Title: WTB - Interior Panels for '51 Henry J
Post by: Brent in MO on December 02, 2021, 09:41:17 AM
I am looking for all interior upholstered panels for my 51 HJ.  I currently have nothing at all to work from.  Also looking for floor covering, either carpet or rubber.

As for mats, you may want to check with Adam Harder at the Manufacturing Fund to see if he still has these in stock (fits 1951-54 HJ and 1952-53 Allstate).  Original color is black.  For interior trim panels, you need to state model year, series and interior trim code number (TRIM on the body tag).  There are still some people turning original cars into modified/street rod/dragster and may have usable old panels.

Thank you for the reply!
It's a 1951 Henry J model 513 with a trim code of 3456

Hi Brent,

trim code 3456 is Shepard Plaid which was one of the common '51 J trims. Here's a pic of a '52 Corsair Deluxe rear seat panel in Shepard Plaid. This should give you and idea of what it looks like.
I have some door panels with this pattern but they were from a deluxe so they're not exactly what your trim code calls for but in many cases on these old cars close is good enough and no one would likely know anyway. I do need to keep them till this spring as I plan on using them for a pattern to make new boards for my Allstate.  When I'm done with that, I would be willing to make you a deal.  It will be next spring sometime - likely June or so before I get them done.  I can provide pictures at that time.  Of course if you find something in the meantime by all means go for it. I'm in Minnesota so we're not too awfully far apart.

Fid,

I saw the picture of the plaid in the 1951 HJ you have.  I notice the gap between seat back and the seat cushion.  Is that because the seat back is hinged to drop down?  Our 1952 has a good, flush fit but the gap might be necessary for seat back movement.  Can you advise?

kaiserfrazerlibrary, that pic I posted is not my car.  It's a pic I took of a '52 Corsair Deluxe that was for sale not too far from me many years ago.  I attached some more pictures I took of it - it appears the rear seat cushion was taken out but not fully reinstalled back into place - the seat back is fixed in place and not the fold-down type.  Also, it was obviously recovered in a different material.  The car was actually pretty workable.  I wonder what happened to it?
