Title: handbrake cable
Post by: DH Comet on July 19, 2022, 09:02:39 PM
Do any of you know if and where I might find a secondary handbrake cable?  (That is, the one going from the yoke back to the drums).

Crap...found one for my 51 Kaiser a couple years ago from someplace in Michigan that specializes in parts like that, but can't find 'em again with an interwebz search.  They said it was a 51 Y cable, but it was a 52...the difference being the 51 had the hangers built in to the cable, the 52 and later had separate hangers...just had to have my mechanic fashion hangers to fit...

I'll keep searching for a link to them, however, a caution.  Shortly after ordering it over the phone, the CC I used suddenly was compromised...can't guarantee it was them and the CC company canceled all aberrant charges, but, buyer beware...scammers everywhere...

So, I got one for my '53 K from George.  It came fast and fit perfectly.  Fifty bucks.  All good!

Here's what the old one looked like, for reference's sake.  132 inches long, 1/8 inch cable.  The new one has about 8 inches of rubber sleeve behind each boot.  I forgot to take a picture of the new one, but it was a thing of beauty!
