The claim is...this was built by the factory http://californiaclassix.com/archive/54_Kaiser_c451.html. In any case very cool car :)

Read the tag they show...HOAX!
I hope the buyer finds out and sues

There have been many of those pick-ups made over the years but that is the nicest one I have seen. Most were made from 4 door sedans. Rudy just sold one recently.

This, of course as pointed out, is all a lie, as it is a creation from a 53 Kaiser Manhattan sedan 532(4--2 door sedan) with 54 upgrades. Notice that there is no picture of the other plate on the cowl, the one with all the bodies buried in it!! Some years ago, I enjoyed the much more honest (and actually better looking, in my opinion) writeup of the mixture of a 54 Early Special with a 53 Traveler called the "Special Traveler" in both the script and the writeup. That Barris roofline on this car is way overdone! That being said, its a pretty nice car. Shame about the seats, and the wrinkles in the dashboard. Isn't that just the way? The "looks like $10K" paintjob and show chrome for days, but basic things like the seats not matching the door panels and the wrinkles get by.

Looks like some nice early green 1947 Kaiser horn buttons were used on those hubcaps too. The one pictured is clearly off-center.

You have to admit...it might be a fake, but it was reasonably well done.
Me, I'd rather have one of the 47/8 K pickups that Muntz and others did.

Unless I missed it it really doesn't look like he made statements - just insinuations as to the cars origin - could a buyer sue?

I am not an attorney or hold a law degree, but I have been interested in this kind of thing and I do know the following as fact:
1. During the course of 2010, auction companies have dropped cars from auction lists because sellers making claims about the car (ownership, equipment, etc) could not support their claims with the proper documentation (bills of sale, copies of titles, factory correspondence, numbers on cars, etc).
2. There are at least two lawsuits pending because the buyer purchased the car in significant measure based on claims made by the seller, only to find out the seller mis-represented the vehicle (note I did not say lie). The judges were asked to drop the suits because of Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware) claiming that it was up to the buyer to verify claims made before purchase. The judges ruled that if a claim about something is made by a seller the seller must either indicate they cannot support the claim with fact, or provide the proper proof. In other words, the suits are still pending and the judge felt there was merit to the case.
3. The old car hobby has existed long enough so that cars have changed hands more than once on a claim of "the person I got it from said so" regarding car history and condition. No documentation, just say-so.

Any one have pictures of the 47/48 Muntz conversions? Also the info on the seller of the 54 Special conversion or who did the work?

If you mean the one on Ebay, that was a Barris conversion. If you mean the 'Special Traveler' that I mentioned, I think someone posted a link several years ago, or it was written up in a Quarterly, again several years ago. I wish I'd kept pictures of it, because a Utility is just about my favourite KF model ever. (wish my 49K Special was a 50 Utility...)
