Mike,

I was the idiot who won that! <grin> These are getting hard to find in any condition. Mine was rechromed but broke. They tried to repair it but it did not hold. Tex Dean's family wanted $150.00 just for a core.

Absolutely those are very rare. Especially NOS.  I paid Buchinger $55 for one in 2001 and I've seen them sell for twice that on ebay more than once (more than twice now). It's a curved piece, unlike the one on the glove box/dash which is flat. They're hard to get off the car intact too so many are broken during a restore. I had a bid in on that too but it was surpassed days ago.

WOW!  Ok, thanks...I get it now.  The one in the picture looked like a flat one to me.  Mark, how can you tell it is curved for the hood?  Mike

One of our member here in Phoenix sent his Henry J Hood Script to the plater for rechromimg. He forgot to tell them that the curve in it was correct for the item. They flatten it in the rechrome process. Opps.......

The curve is quite suttle. I am assuming that since it is NOS it would have the curve. A gamble that I am willing to take at this time. The seller was smart to show a ruler against the item to prove it was a Hood Script and not the littler Dash Script.

I guess because I know what a curved one looks like, I was able to recognize it on that one. I think the shadow it casts makes it discernable.

You can see the curve on the second photo where it's laying on its face. Look at the shadows and you can see the curve. Also the proportions on the loops on the "Y" and "J" letters aren't quite normal which also indicates it's curved.
