Title: Interior door handle springs
Post by: GA Kaiser on September 02, 2011, 11:52:23 AM
Hey from Georgia.  Does anyone know where to find replacement springs for the interior door handles on a '54?  Neither of my front door inside handles will spring back to the closed position and must be pushed back manually for the door to latch.  I pulled the driver door panel and can see the broken spiral spring and how the handle latch is supposed to press against it.  Any info on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Many cars used those; suggest yout try a salvage yard with 50s cars in it or check out a few that are currently on ebay.

Sorry, I have been busy and not on this site very much.  Dave Hollen in PA has some.  As I tried to replace mine, I broke off the tab that holds the spring in place and it could not create the proper spring tension, so I had to ........uhhhh...... rig something up and they are working fine.  I posted some photos of it on my Facebook page.   You may have already seen them.

Seems there have been quite a few listings on ebay for these the last couple of weeks.
