Trying to remove the distributor on our 4 cylinder 52 J and it won't budge.
Can't turn it to advance or retard or pull it out.
I've tried WD and rust penetrate and nothing.
Is there a trick I'm missing?

If I recall correctly, the distributor is held on with one bolt - the one that allows you to turn it to adjust the timing. I remove that one bolt and just pull it out as I recall. You'll want to make sure you look at the rotor and note where it's pointing so it can be re-installed in the correct position for ignition timing but other than that, it comes right out.
This is the bolt which needs to be removed

This picture shows the distributor in a 1951 six cylinder. I believe the four cylinder has this bolt on the bottom side of the distibutor as opposed to the top but it looks the same.

Pulled the holddown bolt and the clamp bolt but no luck.
Been trying to heat the bottom of the dist where it goes into the block but still nothing.
The rotor turns with rotating the engine but the darn thing wont budge, so far.
Thanks for the picture.

Finally got it out with a chain wrench and a two foot breaker bar.
The mechanical advance is frozen so more soaking and cleaning.
I was surprised that the vacume advance can was still good. :)

Good news. I'm glad you were able to acheive success. Let us know how it goes.
