Okay, I am new here. My car did not come with the original frame or motor etc. I am going to sit it on an s10 frame that I have almost completed(shortened etc.). I know the purists might not like this and I understand but as I am simply trying to work with what I have so I am not tearing up a complete car(I wouldn't do that).
Here is what I was wondering if I could get help with. I can move the motor(V8) forward nor problem and that will allow me to keep the 525 box and stock steering. But i was wondering if that would leave the motor too high for hood clearance?
My other option would be to notch the front crossmember and sit the engine down lower but i would have to redo the steering-probably a rack and pinion then. I would prefer keeping the stock steering setup as it would Be easier but I am fine lowering the engine if I NEED to for hood clearance as I already have a rack and pinion.
Anybody have any experience with using the s10 frame? There may have been other options but as i said the frame was already gone and I had the s10 frame already.
Thanks for any help!

Kaiser Bill set a Henry J body on an S10 frame and he has a whole section on this website (www.kaiserbill.com) on how he did.
See
http://www.kaiserbill.com/Bills-Henry-J/image001.htm
and use the arrows to navigate through it.
I know he had to modify the braces on the firewall that mounted the body to the original frame and that's shown on the site.
It's an excellent resource for someone who might want to do this type of modification.

FYI S 10 Blazer frame is the perfect wheel base for the henry-j no shorting required . S 10 pickup is 111 inches and blazer is 101 inches .
