Does anyone know the correct carb that came on the 1949 kaiser deluxe?I have a carter two barrel with numbers 0-2378 and 6 2138.From what i have read seems this carb is a bbd and from chrysler products.

The correct carb for your car is a Carter 622SA. That number appears on a brass tag affixed to the unit.

Ok,thanks Joe.I have a parts car will check tommorrow to see which one is on it.By the way i was looking at the hood emblem(another topic i guess) and it had Ray Russell on it.Guess he made them for Kaiser Frazer?

Carter form 4786C identifies model 723S WCD Dual Down-Draft for 1949-50 Kaiser and Frazer with dual-manifold engine, or 685S along with 685SA as used same application. The 723 was later production, 685 types showed as carry over from 1948 model year for earlier 1949 model year production.
622S series (A or B) was for the 1 barrel Kaiser Special according to Carter Form 711J

I looked up the 622sa and your correct it seems to be a single barrel. Thanks for the great information!!

In the 1949-50 model year, all Kaiser Deluxe models (K492) were equipped with the dual manifold (2 barrel carb) type engine. K491 models had the single barrel one that Jim Lape noted in his post.

Interesting...on page 276 of Last Onslaught, it clearly states that the 622SA is a dual downdraft carburetor. Guess we've found a misprint!

We got carb off of parts car and its a 685sa. :)

If you need a one barrel, here's a 622 on ebay

Thanks but we have a 2 barrel intake.Going to rebuild the carb off the parts car.

Make sure that the seals and other rubber or plastic parts are not ORIGINAL, but are the latest neophreme parts. Otherwise, the alcohol in the gasoline will work like acid on them, wrecking the carb as well as other non-metal fuel line parts.

Will do.Thanks for the advice.
