Title: Body Bushings
Post by: Kris_51henry on February 06, 2013, 02:55:52 AM
Was wondering if Henry J's came with body bushings and if so how many are there?  Also if possible, could someone supply the dimensions of one?  Thinking of making them myself.

I'm not sure I understand what is meant by "Body bushings" - not a part I've heard of but I may know it by some other name.  You may want to check the Henry J illustrated parts book and see if it lists what you're asking about.  Jim B (pnw_oldmags) so graciously scanned and uploaded all of the factory Parts Lists/Books.  You can find them here -

Have look and see if you can find what you're looking for and by all means, post any further questions. I'm sure we can figure it out.

I believe this is what he is referring to
There are 14 of them ... They are reinforced rubber pads ... 2 inches X 2 Inches and 1/2 inch thick if I remember correctly.

The HJ shop manual does show it in a diagram.

Yes that is what I am talking about.  I have no clue why they would be called rubber shims when every other place calls them body bushings.  Anyways, are they all 2 x 2 x 1/2 if those are the correct dimensions, or do they differ from mount locations at all?  Thanks.

The 2 X 2 is just a guess from memory of the coffee can full I had of them at one time.  I have never removed a HJ Body from the frame.  Looking at the Shop Manual Diagram it does appear the one under the washer is small than the one up against the frame.

May I jump in and ask if the frame clips are available, some of the body bolts do not tighten down anymore, thanks, Henry.

KFOC vendor Rudy Philips was reproducing those body bushings/pads. If you have the latest club bulletin, I believe he has an ad in it. You can contact him via the number listed.

Thanks for the catalog link but I want to make some out of aluminum.  I'm not sure if my car still has the originals or not but it's packed in the garage and a little cold out to go check it out.

They were made of rubber to isolate road noise and vibration from the body. If you make them out of alum. you will lose this ability.

I buy rubber stock and make my own.
