Title: wing window rebuild
Post by: kidd65 on February 08, 2013, 11:17:46 PM
I had the wing window frame, handle and hinge parts rechromed. I'm about to get the new glass cut. What is the best way to reinstall the pieces into the frame. I've looked at various rivet procedures but I'm not sure what is best. Anyone completely stripped down these frames and riveted the parts back onto the frame?

I used aluminum rivets that were purchased at the local ACE hardware store.

I went to the local airport today and talked to a aircraft mechanic. He showed me a special tool for installing new aircraft brake linings. Steel rivets are used and, when done, are very flat. Should work out well--I'll let everyone know.
