Title: 55 hood ornament

Took my 55 to paint and see the hood ornament Crome is flaking off does any one know th part# for the ornament cant talk to Walkers (or others) without number

Miles, which part do you need, the bottom or top half (or both)?  Do you have the "correct" 55 top section with the high center fin or the lower 54?  The high fin will be very hard to find.  I had one on my car at the National (my cars a 54) and I took it off for judging.  I didn't put it back on after judging and decided to run the 54 for a while.  A few months ago, a guy contacted me as his 55 had been vandalized and his ornament broken with a bat. :-\ :o  I sold him the one I had. 

Why don't you have your ornament rechromed?

Thanks Mike  will likely have it re chromed but wanted to see if they were available

Two possibilities;  First, check with John Buchinger to see if he has any of his dad's old parts stock left.  Otherwise check with Lance Johnson in Sheyboygan WI.  They're both in the 2011 roster (that's right still no 2012 let alone a 2013!).  George had 1955 hood ornaments from IKA in Argentina and Lance may have info on IKA availability from other sources.

John sold everything to Rudy Phillips a few years ago so you'll need to check with the latter.

My guess is that you won't find a nicer ornament than you already have.
