I got a 6 volt battery yesterday and plugged it up, the dome lamp and headlights work great but the ENTIRE dash and glovebox is UNLIT do any of you know why

What year is your car, and what model? Wiring varies. In the later models at least the instrument lights are controlled by a rheostat on the light switch which can be turned to adjust the brightness. This pot could have been turned all the way down, or there could be a bad spot on the stat or it could be broken, rusted, etc. If it is defective, lights can be restored by shorting out the rheostat, but then they will always be on bright. If your year is so equipped, turning the light knob back and forth will give you some info on what is going on.

Try the Headlight switch dash dimmer control. This would stop dash lights with dust in it. Glove box ?

The '47 and '48s do not have a rheostat on the headlight switch. The dash lights are controlled by a rheostat along the bottom lip of the dash, to the left of the steering wheel. See number 43 in the owner's manual Custom posted under the topic 48 kaiser special dash knob question.
That is the control that turns on / dims the dash lights on the 47/48 Frazer cars. Not sure if Kaiser is the same. Give it a try and see if that does it.

I finally found my 47/48 Kaiser Owner's Manual. It appears the Kaiser is different than the Frazer. See section number 3 at that bottom of this scan

Here's the page/figure it refers to (seems the Kaiser has only a toggle switch as opposed to the turn control my Frazer had).

I've also attached them so you can download and enlarge if needed.
