Post by: BigDave LM6174 on April 12, 2013, 08:04:29 AM
I am looking for a clear, crack free cone for a 1951 Henry J Hood Ornament.  I have a NOS tip, looking for a better cone.

NOS crack-free ones are available, BUT, if you are looking for one that is perfect, you will not find one.
there are "knit lines" in all, due to the molding process
one may think that you are looking at cracks, but they are not

This sounds like a potential KFOCI manufacturing fund project.  New tooling could correct the internal lines and other fill related items.  Painted black, it could be ok for a 1952 HJ Vagabond as well.

Suggest you try Larry Barker in Arizona, last time I talked to him , he had coffee cans  full of them.  they will probably have the manufactiring line  in them going down the length of them........ been that way from the beginning .            Don

No, he does not, but he does eventually answer the phone, and he is very informative and honest, and he has a large stock.  He once sent me some free brake hardware because he had it, and I needed it.  He also fixed my hubcaps at a meet once, and they have never come off since.  Your patience will pay off.
