I am still going through truckload of parts that came with our partially disassembled 52 Henry J.

Can anyone tell me what this shield is for?

would it be something to do with the starter or heater????

Doesn't look like anything KF I've ever run across. Looks like a starter heat shield.

I don't think there's any Henry J parts I wouldn't recognize. If there are, that is one because I have no idea what that might be. As joefrazer pointed out, I don't think it'a a KF part.
