Title: Hood ornament
Post by: porsche1914 on June 01, 2013, 11:32:55 AM
Did 48 Frazers come with different types of hood ornaments? Our hood has only 2 mounting holes.
I know the Knight one has 3 mounting pins.

Since a hood ornament was not standard on the 1947-50 Frazers, owners often installed after-market ornaments on them so you cannot assume the holes in the hood are factory. There is only one factory issue for the 1947-50 Frazer that I've ever seen and it's this one (probably the one of which you speak) -

Thanks Lowell, the one you mentioned is the only one I could remember. The ornament we got with the car appears to be a 48 Chrysler type as near as I can tell

Funny how much they wanted hood ornaments in those days.  I think one of the distinctive things about KF in the early years is its super clean lines, which a hood ornament interrupts.
