I just read that Darrin US postage stamps were issued at some point, which I had never known about. Does anybody know if it is possible to get these?
-
eBay ... they show up all the time.
-
The first issue date on this stamp was August 20, 2005 when the cost for a first class stamp was 37 cents.
Immediately after its release there were a number of people selling the post card with a picture of a Darrin on it and the post mark showing the 50s sports card stamp along with the date of posting.
Like the first reply to this thread stated, I purchased my "date of issue" post card through ebay. In a strange quirk of fate, however, the picture on the post card was of my Darrin! I know this because of the front CA license plate. At one time or another, I had parked the car in a parking lot and someone snapped a photo. This is the photo that ended up on the card.

You can find "First Day of Issue" on e-bay by searching "Darrin Stamp." To purchse loose stamps, contact a stamp shop, stamp show, or go on line and search. There's bound to be many out there.

Thanks for the info. Good story about the car being yours!

Also, this was a set of four stamps that celebrated the 50th year of american sports cars so if I'm not mistaken, the set included a T-Bird, Corvette and a Nash Healey.
For what it's worth.

The card with you car on it was not the original issue by the PO.
Many have taken artistic license to add other car pics they get online.
One of these has my car on it--a novelty but not official.
-
As I recall the "official" car belongs to a different club member who had it at one of the official issuing Post Offices on release day.
-
I was at the ceremony in Detroit at the State Fair Grounds on Woodward Ave.
It was the same day as the Woodward Dream Cruise---40,000 cars and nearly 1 million gawkers.
-
I found the stamps in my desk drawer tonight. I could only make myself use 2 back when I got them.
