Title: 47 Kaiser brake cam adjustment
Post by: billbet on June 07, 2013, 05:01:08 PM
Hello, I'm having a problem with the brake job I'm doing on my 47 Kaiser .The adjustment cams are frozen and without the proper tool ( impossible to find) recommended in the Kaiser manual I can not complete the adjusting of the brake shoes to the drum. Any suggestions all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill

The cams are available so I would go ahead and cut them off.

Here's a link to a site with everything you should need - http://www.kaiserwillys.com/category/willys-jeep-brakes-adjusting-hardware-parts-accessories

You'll want to use part numbers 648348 and 648347.

You could probably heat the nuts and they would free up. A propane torch probably wouldn't be hot enough you would need acetylene. I recently bought a wrench for the top of shock absorbers. It looks like it might fit the adjusters but I haven't tried it yet.
