The factory replacement element filters were either FRAM (C-3 like some Studebaker models) or P70-FF type (same as the replacement element filter on 1950's 6 cylinder Chrysler Corporation cars) if Purolator.  KFOCI HANDBOOK Version 5.0 has an interchange list.

FM-12 is almost worthless information unless you can also list the brand name of the filter.

Jack is correct, the Fram C-3 is the only factory equipped filter on the Willys with a 226. All the parts books corroborate this. I have seen some Purolators, but I'm sure they were added after the cars left the factory.
Also, post any Willys stuff in the Willys category, not the Kaiser category. Or post them in both places if necessary.

Sherherds56, can you post a picture of the filter housing? How about the filter? That will help to determine what unit is mounted on the car. Over the years, many cars had universal style filters mounted, or units from other concurrent cars. Sounds like that's what may have happened to yours.

By the way, a 55 W Custom is rare ride. We'd love to see a picture of it!
