Title: '53 Aero windshield
Post by: 52AeroWillys on September 09, 2009, 05:22:11 PM
Does anyone know when the Willys Aero series switched from 2 pc windshield (as used on all '52 models) to a one pc windshied? Was 1 pc windshild used on all '53 models or just some of them? Thanks

All the '52 models pictured in the 1995 edition of the KFOC handbook have a two piece windsheild. All the '53s pictured are from rear or the side!  It looks like the '53s have single piece windsheilds in them as no center bar is visible through the other windows or in reflections. The "How to know one when you see one" chart in the 1971 issue of Automobile Quarterly shows the 1952-54 Willys with a single piece windsheild.  It's a hand rendering, not a photo and only one is shown with the caption "1952-54 Willys" under it. Hopefully someone can shed some more light.

All 52 Aeros had 2 piece windshields and all 53 and up Willys passenger cars had one piece units. I've heard that a few Larks in 53 had 2 piece glass but I've never seen one.

According to the sales brochures all '52's and the '53 Aero Lark and Falcon had the split windshields while the '53 Aero Eagles and Ace show one piece windshields.  The '54 and '55 models all had one piece windshields.
