Title: 53 henry j battery and cables
Post by: f4 rio on January 04, 2015, 11:28:50 PM
What size is the battery cable for a 6 cylinder.  Battery is new, but seems to turn over slowly.  Have a rebuilt generator, rebuilt starter. Chasin rabbits.
Thanks

One gauge or 0 gauge. I use a 0 gauge. Remember, the car is positive ground, but that shouldn't make any difference regarding how well it turns over. The starter buttons in the Delco equipped Js are notorious for burning up too but that would make the starter not turn over at all.

Lowell,
Is that an O gage ground strap. If so where did you find it?

Thanks,Jim

I got that strap a few years ago from L Barker. If he has any left, he may get one to you in a few years if you order today.

You can also try a large truck store, they sell it by the foot and have fittings for the ends. (Probably larger cities near an interstate) Maybe the larger truck stops also.
