Title: Looking for running 226 near Midwest
Post by: FleetMaster on January 16, 2015, 12:05:47 PM
Hi folks.  New Member and new owner, 1951 Frazer Manhattan.  Car mostly restored- previous father son project and they have taken different interests.  Original engine has cracks likely repairable- will have in my hands next week or so- trust their assessment and the shops that looked as to condition.  Any event with a running engine car will be 95% driveable.  SO, anyone have a 51-55 KF 226- for hydramatic- engine that will run reliably for sale?  Other option is a regional source trusted for rebuilds that may include a cylinder sleeved and a couple valve seats.  Engine did run but smoked and could be tempermental.  No I do not have good pictures as yet of the car.  Have other cars in the barn from Hudson, Studebaker, Rambler, and Packard so i am partial to flatheads and orphans.  Looking forward to meeting some fresh happy car nuts.  Scott K 219-313-2661

Doesn't say if this one is running.  Also, it has an overdrive tranny on it so that means you would have to change the crankshaft in order for it to work with a Hydramatic.  It is in the midwest and in this hobby you learn that sometimes, beggars can't be choosers.

Is this the green 51F that was recently sold in Bowling Green, OH? If so, I've seen pics and it looks like a nice builder!

Car was the 51 Frazer Convertible recently ( December ) listed on EBAY.  Private sale after the fact.  Ever since i first saw a 51 Frazer i have been watching for an opportunitty.  And i was looking for a convertible so followed up and after a couple weeks a deal was made.  Really would like to have on the road by June and a good engine is the main issue.  Do not mind traveling to collect what i need within reason- or to pay shipping.  Already know Feb/March i will be headed to the Carolinas for some Hudson things so that also becomes an option if an engine is to the east.
