One of the least seen but more practical accessories for the '51-55 Kaisers is the package tray cover which was announced on Sept 27, 1950 with Parts and Accessory Bulletin 29-A. The bulletin says in part "The purpose of this package tray cover for which we have received many requests from both distributors and dealers is to provide a covering for the sheet metal package tray which would eliminate glare created by the sun shining though the rear window affecting rear view vision and also to enable owners to make use of the package shelf or tray for carrying packages and loose articles without danger of marring the painted surface of the metal package tray." These came in six colors to match the interior colors of the new Kaisers and retailed for $2.75. Does anyone have one of these package tray covers that could be used as a pattern for making new reproductions? I think that they would be a popular item for owners of these cars. These fit all body styles except for the utility models.

I've never seen one but that's a good idea and better than using a piece of carpet or other alternatives. Looking forward to everyone's responses. Jim 8)

I have one and I can tell you that it exactly matches the contour of the metal tray. It is bound on the edge to prevent the laminated cardboard from fraying. So, it should be easy to make a template if you have a loose metal package tray. The only issue would be shipping something that large without it being destroyed enroute.

Since our manufacturing fund is hesitant to make any new items this would be an ideal accessory for someone to reproduce and I'm sure that they could sell a lot of them.

Does anyone have a picture of this Tray ?

The tray works on 1951-55 Kaisers according to the P&A information.
