I'm looking for an NOS or good used oil pressure sending unit for my 53K. The unit I need looks like the one in the center in the attached picture but there is one important caveat. The switch used in 1953 on the 226 engine is unique to the 53 and 54 early special engines. The switch I need is stamped "50" on the unit - there are others that look exactly the same except they're stamped with an "80" and will not work.
Pictured below are the three different styles used on the 51-55 226 engines. The first is a 1951 unit, also used in the 52 Virginians, the center is the style I'm looking for and the one on the right was used on the 54-55 cars with idiot lights.

I just heard from a fellow KFer who told me that the same part number was used for the 51-53 cars. I parted out three 51s and all three had the unit pictured on the left. If the 51s did indeed use the same unit as the 53, the difference may be in the calibration. And that would be why I have some units stamped "80".
I do know the unit pictured on the left looks a lot like the one on my 50K Traveler. The plot thickens!
In any case, I'm still after a sending unit that looks like the one in the center and is stamped "50".

Check your 1952-53 Kaiser Shop Manual supplement because the senders (water and oil) were changed for 1953 due to re-scaling of the gages in the cluster. Part numbers are found in the 1952-53 Kaiser parts supplement to the 1951 Illustrated Kaiser Parts List.
1951-52 types will give you a reading but it will not be accurate when used in a 1953.

Jim, did you ever find one? I'm looking for one too. Walcks4wd.com lists this one at the 0-50.

Does it look like the one? For $19.95 + shipping I can find out I guess.
I see it crosses to NAPA ECH OP6622 which is listed at $23.95

Jim,
Do you have the part number for Napa or someone else for the pressure sending unit in the center?

I've got an NORS Vulcan 6V 50lb switch I don't need that looks like a possible replacement for the one pictured above. There's a Willys part number listed that might cross reference & confirm whether or not it's compatible.

Thank you sir,
My car is original and with low miles.
I prefer to put another one in that is identical to the old one.
God bless, and Merry Christmas,
Jerry

The switch in my car was gummed up with ancient oil. I cleaned it out and dressed the threads for good contact and it's working now.

Hi Jim and Jerry, the 47/48 parts book shows a short stubby oil pressure sending unit (like the middle one in the picture). All the pressure units I have (KF#207415) are the tall style ( left in picture ) and are stamped #50. The 49 parts book also shows a short stubby style. The 1951 book shows the tall style.
Jerry - the parts book for 47/48 lists a #201540 unit ( no pressure lbs indicated ) and the 49 book lists a #203505 unit as being correct. Just thought you would like to know for your 47. Bob
