This ain't a bad looking job,no chopped sheet metal. Just a question .Are these shocks upside down? Does it matter?

Those shocks were never meant for that car but they happen to fit upside down. Because they are upside down the steel dust covers will fill with dust ,dirt and water and cause problems. They will probably work on a car that is driven occasionally only in nice weather.

At a shop I worked at ages ago, we were told to purge air (internally) from shocks by cycling them a time or 2 while upright before installation. According to the Aero manual, shocks mounted upside down will lose prime.
