Title: Oil Pan removal
Post by: Orphanauto on December 30, 2015, 09:32:59 PM
I tried very hard to take the oil drain plug off my pan, seems like its welded on, or I am just weak, haha, Anyway, I need to change my oil, and have a new filter, since I can't get the drain plug off, Is it easy to pull the pan? Would be nice to clean it out not knowing if there is sludge or? in it anyway. Will the pan just slide out or do I need t lift the motor up some? Thanks...

There was a thread with the ghastly details in Aug '14 on this subject that you can review. Bottom line is that you have to drop the tie rod assembly, but then it can be removed without additional agony.

Sometimes plugs are hard to get off, due to gaskets sticking. I just removed my 53's and it really was tight. Ultimately a vicegrip with a pipe extension did the job.
