Title: Window channel and weatherstripping Henry J
Post by: Daveegt on January 13, 2016, 11:39:15 AM
I am taking the vent windows out of my 52 Henry J. I am getting the items from Restoration Specities. I am using AS1198 for the channel, M8 belted weatherstrip for the window wipe. My problem is the fasteners. One posting indicate using clip #2348, this is not anywhere close to what's on it. #1335 is much closer, can you help me find the right one?
Thanks, Dave

Lots of people use tiny metal screws which work well and are not visible. They are attached to the inner door and window frames.

By taking the advise of my body shop man l used a permanent glue. It has held up well so far.(a bit over a year now) I purchased some small clamps, clothes pin type, and clamped the strips about 4 per 6 inches. Let it dry for 24 hours.

Could you name the glue that you used?

I used "Quick Grip" all purpose adhesive. Beacon Adhesives, Mount Vernon, NY

Thanks, I think an adhesive would be easier to use. After getting everything lined up, put. Glue on,  align and push new window pane in and secure with bungee cord.

On my 57 Chevy I used small screws. You have to sink them in as deep as you can or the top of the glass will chip, like mine did. I will probably do the same thing on the HJ and add a bit of glue for double protection.
