Title: quarter panels on a 1951 Henry J

I'm put on the quarter panels on a retored 1951 Henry J and trying to figure out what would be the best material to use to close up the opening. Originally it had caulking but I haven't found any that is paint-able. I was told to use seam sealer. Does anyone know what I should use? Thanks

Mine appeared to have rope caulk, so that is what I used. Just got it from the weather stripping aisle at my favorite home store.

I still can't not find caulking that will work. Everything that I find is to thick. I was told to use seam sealer 3m fast n firm. Please if you know of some sealer that will work or some type of caulking let me know. Thanks

Back in the day that seam would be leaded.  Every Henry J I've ever seen had the quarter seams showing.  Same with the front fender seam below the headlight.

Henry J's were cheap cars, KF wouldn't spend the time and money filling in the seams.

If one wanted a seamless car, a Chevy of the period had all the seams leaded in.
