Title: Rear Axle Questions

Two questions:

I can't seem to find the torque spec for the rear axle cover bolts in the manual. I have found generic data on the web for the axle, and for the bolt size but those two specs are considerably different. Anyone have this in some Aero data?

Also need a US supplier part number(s) for the flexable rear brake line that goes from the under body to the rear axle.

Pages 34 and 35 of this manual have a bunch of chassis torques.
Have you looked in this manual for what you seek?

tork is relevant to the  size and type of bolt material.
there are many charts out there...
and a bit of COMMON sense...
 some people use silicone while others use permatex ( tomato / tamato )
like not to exceed  ... and don't forget them inch pounds .
opinions are like donkeys,  everybody thinks they  know best.

The issue here is not what the bolts can take. Use a nut driver or quarter drive ratchet. Make it snug but don't warp the cover or cause the gasket to squeeze out. Use some permatex on the gasket not silicone.

I'm seeing wildly different specs. Everything Dana I can find says 30ft lbs but highest Grade 8 5/16th fine thread spec says 27ft lbs of torque, standard in fine thread is 13lbs.
Add to that is the bolt heads are marked with a stylized "A" so I'm guessing standard grade. I've been through my manual a couple times and twice through the service standards posted above. It just seems odd that this torque spec is missing.

The new FelPro gasket is comparatively thick and has a double layered "crush zone" on half the width for sealing so torque is more of a concern compared to the old style paper thin gasket. FelPro tech support said no sealer needed but I put just  a skiff of silicone on both sides and am at 15lbs and seeing a touch of depression around the bolts.

How about the rear flex line number?

Didn't know you had them or I would've got one from you. Shortly after i read your link I snagged one "Buy It Now" on ebay.
