Does anyone have a decent steering wheel to fit a '51 Frazer Vagabond?
The original is a Starlight? color/material?

I don't have one but I will reply. This is a very tough part indeed. I've seen many 1951 Frazers with 1949 steering wheels and even some with 1951-53 Kaiser steering wheels as they are very hard to come by.
I know Adam Harder, the head of the KFOC Manufacturing fund, had a 1949 Kaiser Pearlite wheel redone a few years ago and he said it cost over $800. It looked beautiful I might add. Adam can be reached at 1-262-538-4914

It is a difficult issue, finding a steering wheel.
I did get a remold quote, but I'm not ready to pay $1000.00 for it.
I'm nowhere near putting this thing back on the road, so I'll keep looking...
I did buy a steering wheel rebuild kit. Haven't tried it yet, but as far gone as mine is, I doubt it will be satisfactory.
It really does need a remold, but damn, that's a lot of money for a steering wheel!!

Back when the club remanufactured 51-55 pearlite wheels I bought one and it seems like it was $200-$250. I wonder if there is enough interest to warrant a run of 51 Frazer wheels (I don't have a '51 Frazer, I'm just interested to know)?

I believe these will also fit '49 and '50 Kaisers and Frazers.

Without getting to far of the topic. It would be nice if the club had everyone fill out a form of some sort, and list the top few items that they would like ( need ) to see reproduced. I would think steering wheels would be close to the top of the list. I would love to get a new "K" key made, and have thought about making some, but need a like new blank to have them made. I am so glad to see that the original style upholstery is being remade.

Logan's remark "remanufactured 51-55* pearlite wheels" needs expanding. Pearlite was used on a lot of high end cars and not just KFs. It looked good for perhaps the first year. It was a formaldahyde plastic that oxidized, turned yellow, then cracked, crumbled, and finally turned to dust - and smelled disagreeable during the process. Carl Hering collected a number of pearlite wheels, froze them and then knocked the remaining plastic off with a hammer to get to the basic metal structure. The cleaned metal was sent off and new plastic was molded around it. The new plastic was not the same as pearlite although the wheel could be painted to appear similar to pearlite.
Well the cleaning was tedious and after initial demand was satisfied, he decided to end the project.
There never was enough interest to do the pearlite wheels on the early cars and that was partially because fewer of the early cars had them.
* 54-55 Kaisers had plastic wheels, no pearlite. The parts book says they came in different colors, but if anything other than black was used, they have not shown up at a meet installed on a car.
