BIG GIANT HUGE THANKS to alohagreen for making this all happen: I was searching for a mate to the Carter YF 820 carb that I already had, so that I could put the Darland 2-port intake I got. Rick had one and I had an 833 that he was looking for--the swap was on and this is the fruit of all that labor. So pleased with the mock-up and, short of the Willy-Willy or Chuchua or Hickey aluminum head that I've never been able to find, this thing is turning out SO. COOL.
Now, to figure out carb linkage and the search is on for a pair of Stelling & Hellings "helmet" air cleaners, too!

Suggested linkage ,but from a burns manifold using Solex carbs..

Way back when they were talking about making another run of the rough casting Willy-Willys and letting the buyer make the final machining, I committed to buying two. I never heard from them after that.

That would sort of line up with what I've experienced, Corsairdeluxe--I have a friend in OZ who knows all the Willys guys and he was helping me search for one, but came up donuts with that whole crowd...

Just got that Darland intake back from the polisher and the Edmunds air cleaners from O'Brien Truckers. Slowly but surely...

Now that's cool! I don't think you'll get the hood to close with those air filters on it. I'm sure you'll keep us posted on the progress. The gold looks classy.

Hood clearance has definitely been a topic of debate! I'm thinking that the original oil bath air cleaner wasn't a whole lot shorter, but we'll find out the hard way, I'm sure...

Actually, it was very short. In fact, it is offset to compensate for the height. Here's how it is

That definately looks ready to snort & kick @ss!
I've been worried about the forward air cleaner on the dual carb head going into my Aero. I've got a pair of factory cleaners cut down but the gains are minimal, I won't know if the forward one will clear till the engine's in & the hood comes down.

No, I'm like the Japanese with my motors: the patina becomes part of the personality and value of the car. Having said that, I do find some cosmic solace in polishing stuff from time to time...
