Title: KF HJ L134 engine value
Post by: old stuff on January 02, 2017, 10:35:07 PM
Wondering if a HJ L134 engine has enough value to invest in boring and sleeving a cylinder.  Thanks for any thoughts.

Since that engine was used in Jeeps for many years, and many people make hotrods out of Henry Js , it seems there's always one or two available at pretty reasonable prices. If you're not in a hurry, I'm sure one will show up for sale as they often do and you may likely get the whole engine for less than it would cost to sleeve one.  Of course, there's no guarantee that one you buy will be any good either.  It was very common for the 134 in a Henry J to throw a rod as the engine has a long stroke and was not designed for freeway driving or speeds faster than 55 mph.

Thanks for the info.  Seems like the HJ Supersonic L134 is somewhat of a novelty in a JEEP.  I also have another HJ engine like this.  I'll probably just keep the bad engine block/parts for spare parts since I have 3 flat fenders with L134's and a CJ5 with a F134 engine.

In NC we can buy non-ethanol gas,at some off the stations. Would this be okay to run in my 52 J? I have the 6 cylinder,no over-drive?
