General Discussion / Fall Empire Division Meet
« on: August 24, 2019, 10:04:34 AM »
Just wanted to let everyone out there in KFOCI land, that the Empire Region Fall Meet deadline that is listed in the Bulletin has been extended a week.  Deadline was today but now extended to September 2nd.  Please if you are thinking about going to Painted Post / Corning, NY to this meet do so this week!  For those that have not planned meets before (Thank you btw for those that have) let me say that having accurate numbers are vital to making banquets, museum visits, hotel blocked rooms and other arrangements.  Everyone wants to know how many people for group rates and/or accommodating seating.  Not saying that unexpected KF members are not welcome by any means if you don't notify the organizers of a meet, we love seeing everyone!  But just plan ahead please.

So come to Corning, NY, September 26-28.  Going to be a great meet.  Check your bulletin for details! ~ Thank you.

General Discussion / Stay Safe.....
« on: September 12, 2018, 08:31:25 AM »
Some of you may actually get this on your phone, or WiFi in a hotel, as you are evacuating from the path of Florence, just wanted to say stay safe and we are thinking of you.  Cars and possessions can be replaced - people cannot.  I have family in the area but further away from the coast but not out of the rath.  They are preparing for wide spread outages and severe flooding.  May God be watching over you and protect you. "Flo, kiss my grits!" (reference to old Alice tv show)

General Discussion / 2016 National - Plaque needed for display
« on: July 18, 2016, 09:33:51 AM »
Looks like a great time was had by all in Springfield.  Wish I could have been there.  Thanks Lee for all the great pics on Flickr.
From the 2015 Convention in Gettysburg some of you might have seen my dash plaque display of all the National Dash Plaques of years gone by.  Unfortunately my brain slipped and I failed to arrange to get a plaque to add to the display from this years National.

Does anyone know who I should contact to see if there are any extras still available?  Or if anyone would like to donate to the collection, I would much appreciate it.  I certainly do not want any years omitted from my display.  The display probably will not make 2017 but it will be seen at the 2018 National back in the Eastern Division.

Thanks.
Brian Choate

General Discussion / Re: 2016 KF Club Calendar
« on: December 14, 2015, 02:02:10 PM »
Got mine in Western New York today.  Looks great.  For those of you that never throw anything out or save calendars, next year you can also re-use your 1988 calendar.  I put up as many as I can each year in my office and get some comments from co-workers.  They think I am nuts anyways - right now I have up the 2015, 2009, 1998, and 1987 calendars up on my wall.  Hey I figure the more KF stuff on the wall I put the better.

General Discussion / Convention Update- Harley Davidson Tour
« on: June 26, 2015, 08:00:57 AM »
Please be aware that anyone going on the Harley-Davidson Tour that fully enclosed low-heeled shoes are required. Safety glasses will be provided.  Also no packages, backpacks, camera bags, etc are allowed in the plant.  Cameras are not permitted in the plant but can be used at the tour center. We will be handing out a tour registration card when you register that is required.  Thank you.

Anyone who has already sent in their registration and received by Ceph Hering as of yesterday (6/23/15) are all set for the Tour.  The remaining 5 spots will be filled by the first 5 registrants signing up for the Tour.  Anyone after that will be refunded and can go on their own.

My family is actually going on our own tour - via Segways!  We probably won't get all the information and comfort from the Guides as on the bus but we have always wanted to try riding a Segway.  It is a little more pricey too for a shorter time (3 hours - 9 miles)- and we go rain or shine but definitely something the kids and us won't ever forget.  We will have pre-recorded narration with headsets in our helmets.  So for those that cannot get on the bus tour there are lots of other options.  I ventured out on my own there when we had a meet in May.  It is an awesome area to visit.

General Discussion / Convention Update - Gettysburg Battlefield Tour
« on: June 23, 2015, 12:28:55 PM »
As of today, 6/23/15, we have 5 spots left for the Gettysburg Battlefield Bus tour.  Unfortunately we will not have enough persons to fill a 3rd bus with 54 persons and the cost to run this bus half full would be cost prohibitive. You do have the option of doing a similar tour on your own by going directly to the Battlefield Visitors Center which is approx. 5 miles from the hotel.  Anyone signing up for this tour that we cannot accommodate will be refunded at the time of registration.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Also, if you have not made your reservations yet at the host hotel, you need to do it now as the deadline for getting the reduced rate for KFOCI expires Thursday 6/25/15.!
Check your bulletins for reservation info.

General Discussion / Re: New Look for CIRCLEKF.COM

Keep up the Great Work on Circle KF.  I appreciate all your efforts and will post stuff to the site that I may be able to contribute.  I am going to check my account now to see if it is still active and if not I will recreate it.

Life was so much simpler when the only tech thing we had to worry about was how to stop the clock from flashing 12:00 on the VCR!

Only 3 weeks left for the June 25th cut off date to lock in on the great rate the host hotel has to offer for the National Convention!  Do you have your reservation?  Have you sent in your Registration?  If you haven't yet, you don't want to miss out on this great Historic Town.  Check your bulletin for more information.

Nice calendar.!  And great cost savings to the club.   I like it but I did like the old format for the fact that it told you a story behind the cars featured as well.  It still looks awesome on my wall at work along side the calendars from 1987, 1998 and 2009 that all can be used for this year.

And did you also notice that Super Bowl Sunday is actually noted on Monday, February 2nd.

Terry, If I understand your question about the photo, this pic was in the 1968 Calendar so that is why he posted it under this thread.

These things happen.  Thank you for clarifying it.  Jim Betts did a very nice job on the Quarterly and seeing this publication being distributed is so great.  Hats off to him and all who contributed.

I have not taken a close look at the calendar yet but from a glance, it will go nicely on my wall in my office.  It will also go nicely with my KF Calendar collection which I think I have all of them, even a 1975 which Jim does not have listed on his site. (please note this Jim, I can scan for you sometime)

Understand.  A letter of the change was sent to the President in October 2013 and it was published in the December 2013 Monthly Newsletter. Is there a place on the KFClub website that lists all current managers and directors?

Got mine today in Western New York!  The 1998 and 1987 Calendars will work as well for 2015.   The Quarterly I will need to take a look thru but found an error first thing on the inside cover.  Empire Region Manager is incorrect.  Correct contact is Brian Choate who has been the Manager since October 2013.

I could be mistaking about the Service Bulletin.  It was my dad that did the research and he and I talked much about the Hobby - - of course too this was early to mid-90's.  We all know we should not go by our memory!  Especially mine!

Glad we dodged the big storm and only got 6 inches here in the Southern Tier of WNY but I bet Jack and Barb got dumped on big time!-
