Lee Abrahams uses a pressure regulator on the line from the fuel pump to the carburetor.   He will be going into the hospital on Monday for quadruple bypass surgery.   When he gets out, contact him to see what he uses, it works quite well.

Kaiser Forum / Best In Show!!
« on: September 26, 2021, 07:20:22 PM »
I just returned from the Laguna Beach Annual Classic Car Show.  Laguna Beach is located in Southern California on the ocean and is kind of an artsy community.  The car show was held two blocks inland from the beach.  I was pleasantly surprised to find I would not be the only Kaiser in attendance as is usual for me!!

Eric Johnson had his 1953 Kaiser Dragon which had a Supercharger, Power Steering and an under hood light.

Gary Cochrane came with his modified 1953 Kaiser Manhattan, which received a best in class award!!

Both Kaisers garnered much attention as well as my Darrin did.

I was there with my Darrin and thought I would receive the popular vote as so many people voted for me (they filled them out in front of me because you had to put the owners name down) , how ever, I received Best in Show.   Most of the people running this show came by to ogle the car and appreciate the subtle elegance of Dutch Darrin's design.

I also pointed out to any who would listen that the 1953 Manhattan had won 8 beauty awards around the world (thanks to Dutch Darrin again)  and was considered the most beautiful 1953 car.  I have two ads specifically mentioning that fact.

What a fun car show!!

Darrin Forum / Re: #225: a little update

I do not have Tom Null as the owner of Darrin # 225 in the Kaiser Darrin Registry.  Would you have Ray contact me to clear this up?   I would suggest calling Lee Abrahams (leeabrahams@cox.net) for the parts you need.

That tool looks like you have to remove the shaft enough to get the tool under the steering wheel.  I have never seen this tool before - very interesting!

When I needed to remove my Darrin steering wheel, I needed to drill and tap two holes and then use a steering wheel puller in the normal fashion.   You will need to have the proper special tools to do this because I found the wheel to be very tight and if not done correctly, you might damage the wheel where you drilled the holes.   I am a mechanic by trade and already had the proper tools which can be expensive.
The holes need to be drilled in the metal not the material around the metal.

Maybe we could talk about it.   My phone number is listed in the bulletin as the Darrin Registry Manager

Darrin Forum / Re: New Fuel Tank
« on: March 16, 2021, 12:52:22 PM »
Call Adam Harder, I had a similar problem when I changed tanks during my restoration.  You will need a fitting to fit both ends and there is no "severe" restriction in the fuel.  Mine works quite well, it's just the way they were made.
My old tank was modified incorrectly, the tanks from the MFG. Fund are correct.

Darrin Forum / Garden Walk Car Show
« on: February 20, 2021, 03:21:04 PM »
I know that what I read, that 80 % of the US has snow on the ground, so I had to share a new car show out here in Southern California, Anaheim.  The Garden walk is two blocks from Disneyland and is surrounded by three new hotels and shops.  They just started a new car show every Saturday from 8 - 1 pm in the entrance and parking lot for the sales shops.   I was in the entrance while the rest of the cars were in the parking lot.  My Darrin is #81 and I accidentally parked in front of the shop with an address of 81! Providence/chance???

It's close to my house, less that 3 miles away and an easy trip there.

Darrin Forum / Re: experimental engineering progress reports
« on: January 30, 2021, 09:54:40 AM »
After reviewing these documents I am struck by the dates.  Production on these cars started in Jan 1954 through to June 1954.  Many of these experimental progress reports are in March, April and May, like the one listed.  Some of them list production numbers that seem to became regular production models.  I would like to see the Darrin they used trying the experimental power doors!!

Darrin Forum / Re: ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT THE DARRIN ON BRING A TRAILER?
« on: December 25, 2020, 09:53:46 AM »
There are also 6 other Darrins for sale on Bring-A-Trailer, just do a search!!

The others are a bit overpriced IMHO.

This Darrin will need a new deck lid to be made from someone else's!!  I think this one will go cheap as it has no reserve.  I hope it goes to someone who will get it back on the road again, hopefully stock.

Someone gave me the shirt for my B-Day about a year ago, I believe they had it made.  The belt buckle I purchased off the internet on eBay about 2 years ago, then I painted it to look like the logo.  It was a plain antique brass looking buckle.

I normally wear my Darrin Belt buckle, however, since the Darrin was out for all to see and it was a Kaiser/Frazer event, I chose that belt buckle to wear
