Here are some pictures.
1949 Kaiser Traveler. Rust free solid car needs complete restoration. Engine does fire and has had the head surfaced and new head gasket installed. Has a N.O.S. carb, new fuel pump mounted not plumbed and a Pertronix electronic conversion.
Brakes are not locked up and the car rolls freely. Car comes with spare grill bars along with what appears to be rechomed front and rear bumpers still wrapped in the brown paper. The car also has the original bumpers still on the car also.
Car is located in Bakersfield, CA
$1000 obo.
I have tried to post pictures.

Up for sale is my 49 Kaiser Traveler. The car is pretty solid and not rusted out. The car does have the original drivetrain but no radiator. The engine does fire up and has a n.o.s. carb, new fuel pump ( mounted but not plumbed) , and has a new Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. The car does roll freely, no locked up brakes. This car is all original and will need a complete restoration. I do have trim pieces as well and an extra front and rear bumper that I believe have been rechomed but are still wrapped up in the brown paper.
All the glass but the rear window will also have to be replaced.
Car is located in Ca

Did you ever get them changed out? I have a knock in my engine under load but not at idle and I'm leaning towards the thrust bearing because I can also move the crank front to back some.
If you have fixed it how hard was it to swap them out and could you do it with the engine in the car?

Valid points,
I'm away from the house for the week will have to do some measuring when I get home.
I know for the trans for the 235 I do have a Saginaw 3 spd and the engine already has the bell housing.
The starter is on the right side as well as the generator. I have a pair of SS headers for it that I believe will dump far enough back to clear the steering. The oil pan is a rear sump so I should be fi e there.

As for the frame swap on to a 65 Polara, my daily driver is a 65 Polara 2 door hardtop  and I don't think I want to tear it down for that....lol.
Besides that it is a unibody so that would not work for a frame swap.

If it is going to be alot of work I'm with you might as well do a v8. Which is a option also seeing that I also have 2 of those to choose from.
I have a 327 sitting in the shop and a 1957 Chrysler 354 poly with a Wilcap trans adaptor to put a Chevy automatic behind it, which I have a th350 and a 4L80e sitting in the shop also.
I'm pretty sure a 4L80e would be to long.
But then again I have a 78 camaro front sub that is powder coated and completely rebuilt ready to go in something.
The guy that owned the Traveler passed away and I bought it from his son. The guy that owned the car was going to use that sub on the Traveler.

I'm thinking about starting to work on my 1949 Traveler again.
The reason I stopped working on it is when I got the engine running I noticed if you rev it up it develops a knock in the engine which frustrated me and I stopped working on it for the last couple years and have been working on other things.
So the question is has anybody put a Chevy 235 stove bolt into a Kaiser?
The reason I ask is I have a complete and running 235 and I'm thinking this could be a cheap alternative to rebuilding the 226.
Thanks

I'm also pondering the thought of a v8 and automatic also seeing that I have to pull my flatty out due to a bottom end knock under load. I have a couple of choices a 60's 327 and the one im leaning towards but not sure it would fit without cutting the firewall is my Chrysler Spitfire 354. I also have the adaptor for the 354 to put a GM auto behind it along with a th 350 or a 4L80E and a 8" rearend out of a 65 mustang. Decisions decisions.
