Kaiser Forum / Owned by Kaiser?
« on: January 18, 2018, 11:58:51 AM »
Also posted on the Willys thread....supposedly owned by Henry and used to explore Hawaii. Story works for me because of the stretched wheelbase and tinted sky windows.

This Jeep for sale on Ebay is way too unique to be run of the mill, do you think the story is true?

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: 1951 kaiser
« on: June 29, 2017, 07:46:36 AM »
I am visiting this forum for the first time in about a year as I have moved on to other vehicles. Was scrolling down and - SURPRISE, I sold this car about two years ago and it's in my town. I kept it garaged, but the elderly owner has it in a shed that is open at the back. It was a nice frame on restoration when I sold it. Probably could be up and reliably running in a few hours. Some of you saw it when I drove it to Jackson TN for a regional meet. Someone PLEASE buy this car and get it back in a garage where it belongs! I cringe every time I pass by the house.  Unless something's changed, this car will drive the backroads as far as you want to go. Came from PA and has the original inspection sticker on the windshield. Interior is completely redone in original type fabric (dark green). I installed 3 point retracting shoulder belts in the front.

Kaiser Forum / Re: temp gauge reads hot on '53 Kaiser
« on: September 14, 2016, 03:42:33 PM »
Why no just consider that the normal reading for a normally heated engine?
Anything about that you can consider hot.

I have a similar issue with a '66 Thunderbird. The gas gauge sender is brand new as is the instrument regulator. Gauge reads only half full when the tank is full and a quarter full with 12 gallons in it. So I just recognize that and fill up when it gets to empty, knowing I still have 6 gallons or so.

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: 50 Kaiser

Was reading through the ad and realized this one is not that far from me! The seller is right though, if I dragged this one home I would be divorced and homeless, as well as needing a tetanus shot.

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Kaiser-Frazer documentary film on DVD
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:08:48 PM »
I posted a link to the Youtube video earlier of "Kaiser-Frazer, the Men and the Car" documentary film, but since some prefer to watch on a TV I've made it available on DVD for $12 shipped. I'm a KFOCI member and spent two years off and on shooting and editing this. Interviews with club members and president were done at the Jackson TN meet, while Gilbert Chestney was interviewed in the museum at Ypsilanti. Lots of shots of Kaisers, Frazers and Henry J's of all years, even a Darrin or two. I'm a professional filmmaker with 35 years experience. If you would like one PM for the address to send a check to or the Paypal address if you want to pay online. Thanks!

I've made a few DVD's of this and have made them available to the Ypsilanti museum. If anyone else would like a hard copy, PM me and I'll give you price and details. There will also be an ad in the next KFOCI bulletin.

I saw it and very much enjoyed it.  I shared the link on FaceBook and plan on showing it at work tomorrow.  Since I am the boss guys are going to learn about KF whether they like it or not....Funny I said in the film I had done everything but the running gear and I am on that now.  Very good show, class act for sure!

Glad you liked it Joe. That vintage Kaiser showroom footage you donated made the film. Were you the little kid in the store?

Kaiser Forum / Re: Fitting simple deadlocks to doors
« on: June 19, 2016, 12:01:46 PM »
My Kaiser is parked on the street here in London, England. The drivers door doesn't lock properly, and anyway, any would-be car thief knows how to hook open the door locks.

A week or two back, I heard the sound of my "musical" car horn for a split second, late at night. So I get out of bed, go downstairs and look through the window. Sure enough, some youth is sitting in the drivers seat fiddling about with wires. He must have momentarily pressed the horn button by mistake. Taking hold of a conveniently positioned ax, I step outside, pull open the car door, and yell "out, ****". The kid gets out and I say "leave". He runs away, and just for show I ran after him a few yards waving the ax over my head and shouting "if I see you near my car again I'll cut your f***ing arms off". He hasn't been back!

This incident made me think of fitting a simple deadlock into the door and door post. You used to be able to buy these things everywhere, but I cannot seem to find them for sale online. See picture. Does anyone know if these are on sale anywhere? I found this pic on some web site about cars and security, and I remember around 20+ years ago when me and my schoolfriends first had cars, a couple of guys buying locks like these, and helping them to fit them. But now I cannot seem to find them on sale anywhere!

The lock pictured , other than the extra long hasp, is a common desk drawer lock available at any office store. Similar locks are used for school lockers, vending machines, etc. Should be easy to find locally or online.

You are all welcome. The 3 members featured are Jim Lape, Joe Keys and Gilbert Chestney. Putting their names on the screen is one of the many finishing touches I left off. That and getting enough extra footage and photos to cover the many, many edits.

Glad to do it. Everyone please share the link, especially with K-F fans who may not visit the forum. After all that work, I'd love for someone to actually see it!

Does it work now?

General Discussion / Kaiser-Frazer documentary film now on Youtube
« on: June 09, 2016, 10:24:28 PM »
As some of you know I'm a professional videographer.  I attended a regional meet in Jackson TN a while back and shot interview footage of K-F enthusiasts and club leaders. I also went to the Ypsilanti museum and interviewed the curators and photographed the cars. I started to put all this together into an hour long comprehensive documentary that I intended to sell on DVD. Other projects got in the way and this one got put on the back burner. Meanwhile, I sold my Kaiser and am now restoring a '66 TBird. I've decided this may never get finished and don't want to risk it being lost completely to a hard drive crash- so tonight I rendered it out "as is" and put it up on Youtube. Hope everyone enjoys it, in it's unfinished state, it's about 25 minutes long. If you want to send someone to it without sending a link, just tell them to go to Youtube and search "Kaiser-Frazer documentary". If anyone wants DVD's I can make them, but due to time involved would have to charge something.
