There was also an earlier car, Chevy V8/auto on same site.

Saw this, tried to post link, but forum didn't work on 26Apr.  Now forum is back, but appears listing has expired.  Don't know status of car or posting....  It was a 54 Manhattan, black, NW of Atl., as I recall was $7500.  Pictures were decent....but as listing has "expired" little help there...
Passing it along anyway....in case someone is near to it and has interest....  Bob L.

General Discussion / Re: What happened?
« on: September 17, 2021, 09:48:13 PM »
Well, took a while to finally get to point of finding the last reply....did the change for site location (added  "members" part).  Now, appears all back working...  Chrome on both XP and 10 systems...

Did this change/instruction/info appear anyplace in club's printed newsletters?   Sure don't recall seeing.   Could have made life much simpler to sort out and find answer.

At least, I'm back to having my member access able to work...not feeling left out....as before.

Thanks.

General Discussion / What happened?
« on: August 23, 2021, 10:47:13 PM »
Been a while since I came here.  Normally use Goggle Chrome on XP OS to browse...(find Win10 OS, too clunky to use).   When I tried today, nothing looked right, page layout wasn't same,  login didn't work, and came back when tried saying "not secure", never could long in (hadn't logged out as of last visit).... Had that both on my XP and 10 window machines...

Just came in via Firefox/Monzilla browser on the XP machine >>> site looked "normal"...logon worked as before....

Something changed?  Can you get it fixed so Chrome works?

(Saw something recently with my MG site...but it happened with Chrome only on XP, not on 10....they had redone site for "security"...made it un-useable.   Issue was between operating systems on Chrome, not what I see now on KFClub.com....happened on both OSs.)

If so, sure hope you can get the Chrome version working properly, as before....

I use Chrome as my bookmarks from Explorer were able to be imported to chrome, Monzilla couldn't take them... have tons of stuff marked, so Chrome won the choice...  Now, don't want to try to recreate from scratch to change browser, or machines...just to come to a few sites... (Really is sorry technology that can't allow upgrades/compatibility---backward, forward, sideways....  Tooooo typical in today's "advanced" world!!!  Just like do it yourself machines only in checkout, yet can't do cash....this is progress???)

If not possible to "fix", doubt I'll be coming back as often...if at all in future...a true loss...sad.

Funny deal, is if you reply here, likely won't get the word....

Meanwhile the 54 Manhattan still retains it's original 6V, +ground..runs.... unaffected by change...

Technology rules/limits, the roost?  Leaving some more out...

Not acceptable to a professional engineer...or most everyone... well, except, some myopic geeks...

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: '51 Frazer Convertible for Sale
« on: February 20, 2021, 08:34:08 PM »
Looks like Phil Rhim's car.  From Indiana, live(d or s) here in Pensacola.... Very, very nice car.  Loved the glass B pillars, tailights, and overall lines.   If his, he did restoration while in In. before moving south.  Last we spoke he was going to head back north.  So that might line up with the Indiana location in posting.  Think he also had another early Frazer to do.

Not sure if any help....but....

I had issue with my 54 Manhattan horn... first didn't honk, then couldn't keep it from going all the time.  Issue was nothing behind the ring to push it back when let off.  Appeared originally to have some black material, like rubber... had died.

I took some Armorflex (black insulating material for cold) and cut chunks to stuff in behind the ring.  Playing with amount/location, I got some "insulated" spring action behind the ring...so when you let off, it was pushed off the contact ring...   You can find similar material at big box stores for doing pipes at house... not quite the same, but probably would work.... just need something "spongy" that has memory and will live... a dab of weatherstrip cement might be needed to hold into place.

Have a 54 Manhattan.... tired hood springs... appeared possibly that there were some in pictures...but  not being expert on all things Kaiser...can't say.  They have the wound up, flat, coils....saw some with arms/brackets in 2nd page or so of pics....

So, if you have some/know them (I don't)....let's chat... PM or email me?

Looked like a super collection of stuff...well kept...good job.

Thanks.

Cars For Sale & Wanted / La Dawri on Ebay, Kaiser powered!
« on: April 13, 2020, 08:29:56 PM »
Saw this tonight...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-La-Dawri-Speedster/184229229120?hash=item2ae4eaf240:g:TTEAAOSwoZZefpai

Odd bird for sure, thought the power/gearbox might flip a switch or two....

Looking at only photo, some how it appears reversed from my 54 Manhattan...intake/exhaust on left side of block if radiator is at front...  mine is on passenger side under S Charger...   Not that familiar with other models...perhaps earlier engine?   Guess everything about this offering is very different!

Anyway, passing it along...

years and years ago, there used to be a place in Chapin, Ill. that did tons of CI weld repairs.  Owner was Loyd C. Hurst, as I recall. put stuff in fire brick, heated with propane, then oxy/aced welded with cast iron rod, letting all slowly cool down.  He did several heads for me on my race cars (ported into jacket)...worked fine...  Located out in "farm" country, doing lots of combine/tractor repairs..high buck parts to replace...

Went looking on web when I saw your post, seems Loyd has passed...son started a 2nd shop, mostly cyl. heads.  Links below/addresses are results of my search...suggest you try both, and ask...

Sort of think the site with welding in name would be the place to start/ one that lacks a web site / older place.  ...Loyd was located on north side of hard road...farm house with out buildings...don't know about the newer place/location...

Wish you good luck with repairs...or finding another...
