Kaiser Forum / The V8 experience needed.....
« on: January 28, 2016, 04:04:07 AM »
Hello Everyone,
I first want to explain to the members that want to keep their Kaiser's original, that how I wanted to restore my '53 Kaiser Deluxe sedan, I thought was a diamond in the ruff, all original with no body damage and no cut wiring a real barn find!! That I received in a trade with my rebuilt '64 Chevy Corvair coupe and a good start with no cash involved!! But, when I started to get into the project I found the wiring to be crumbling apart, all the side glass broke and the last straw the block cracked. At the same time I was working on a '64 ford long bed pickup, I was going to install a totally rebuilt '65 Hi-Pro 289 with a 4 speed toploader transmission and had to put in new wiring, brakes, paint. I love the body style of the Kaiser, I want the car to be a driver!! So I asked myself, what I really wanted, I am not rich to do two projects at one time and so the Kaiser won!!! I have seen others put a ford motor in a '54 Kaiser in the history of the forum and I know it can be done. So, that being said, I could use the following information: does anybody have a pattern of the mounting bars that the motor mounts for a 289 ford motor and where to weld to the frame. Do you need to use a double sump oil pan, can you use the Kaiser's original front suspension?
Any information or help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Doc Wasson

Kaiser Forum / Re: Steering wheel information....

Thanks for the replies & info, I have a good steering wheel that I can repair, but, I like the bullet middle K topped wheel, it looks smaller and more futuristic. Does anyone have an old one they are willing to part with?
Thanks again,
Doc Wasson

Kaiser Forum / Re: I guess a wiring I will go.....
« on: November 30, 2015, 12:05:50 AM »
 ;D Hello Everybody,
Thanks for all of the suggestions, as always y'all have been a great help to me and I will put a new wiring harness w/ fuse box in when I change it to a 12 volt system. I want to keep the old 6volt system in for now, just rewire it with modern grade wire. With that being said, does anybody have a great copy of the wiring diagram for a 1953 Kaiser deluxe. The one I have is from my copy of the 1952 - 53 supplement, which I have found out that it is not a complete copy.
Thanks,
Doc Wasson ;)

Kaiser Forum / I guess a wiring I will go.....
« on: November 23, 2015, 12:26:01 AM »
  :)Hi everybody,
Well now that I have all I can do under the hood, now to under the dash. :'( I was able to turn over the engine with the key switch after installing a new starter solenoid. then I opened up the dash to put some new bulbs in and I may have pulled the unit out to far and the key switch will not work now. So now I have to go hunting for that bad wire, but, the cloth wiring is so brittle and faded I can't tell the color of the wires.
Any help would be greatly appreciated from the other members,
Thanks,
Doc Wasson ;)

Kaiser Forum / Well, new problem......
« on: November 04, 2015, 09:33:50 PM »
 :)Hello everybody,
Well as in previous topics you know I have been trying to get my '53 Kaiser Deluxe and I have been making some headway. ;D But just as you think it is ok to go back in the water, a new problem arises. One of the first things I did when I received the car was to remove, inspect the thermostat and in the process taking off the water neck I broke a bolt off halfway in the head cover. I was able to get the bolt piece out, clean & repaint the water neck, replace the thermostat w/ spacer & gasket and w/ a new set of bolts installed it back on the motor. Until today I have not refilled the radiator, just covering all the bases, I tried to refill the radiator and the water neck started to leak. Great!!! SO I think it is the new gasket leaking, but, no it is leaking through the holes at the Tops of the bolt holes under the bolt heads! :'( Well, what can I do now? I checked, did not see any cracks around the water neck and the bolts have no washers or lock nuts. So, what can I do to move forward?
Thanks,
Doc Wasson  ;)

Kaiser Forum / Re: Trying to start my '53 Deluxe so far......
« on: November 01, 2015, 06:06:39 PM »
 :)Well everybody,
I was able to turn my engine over with new ignition switch In the car, because, found out starter solenoid was bad and replaced it. One down, now getting power, but, not enough from just the battery. Have to put battery on charger then try to start. Now I can concentrate on getting continuous fuel to the carb.
Thanks,
Doc  ;)

If my '53 Kaiser Deluxe was indeed a local car, purchased from a local dealership. The were 3 dealerships in Birmingham and 1 in Mobil, Alabama during the year of 1953 according to the dealership list.
Thanks,
Doc

:)Thanks for the info, I am a club member and I haven't had a chance to go all the way through the cd yet. Is there any way to pinpoint where this deluxe was sold from or who original owner?
Thanks again,
Doc Wasson ;)
