Henry J & Allstate Forum / Windshield and rear glass seals
« on: May 03, 2018, 04:18:31 PM »
Is there anyone who can share their experience about installing the windshield &/or the rear glass using the seals that are supplied by Rudy Phillips? I have installed the rear glass (several times, actually) in my HJ and though the seal looks ok on the inside, It does not lay down on the glass on the outer surface. The corners are the worst and sit off the glass a good 1/4". Any comments appreciated.

Final report. All 30 of the re-pops have been distributed and I think everyone is happy with what they received.
Thanks to all and Happy New Year,

I, too, am in need of a front license plate bracket (for my '52 HJ). It would be helpful if someone could post a photo of one either on or off a car.
Thanks,
Shel

Thanks, guys, for the testimonials. I have 8 elbows left of the 1st 17 parts received and checks promised for them. 13 parts are still due from the supplier. I've tried to get parts to those that expressed an interest when the survey was done, but not all of them have come forward with a check. Elbows are still $70/pair and shipping is free. It's going to be a first come, first serve basis from here on out until all parts are gone. A check in my hand will get parts shipped the next day. I will give a refund for what I can't supply.
Good luck and happy holidays,
Shel

Does anyone know the NAPA part number for the rear motor mount for a 6 cyl w/overdrive HJ?

The good news is I received 17 parts. The bad news is I only received 17 parts. Demand looks to be over 40. 5 pieces have been committed. 12 are left for dispersal. I've notified the 1st three interested parties of parts availability and await their reply. Price is $35 each and free shipping. I'm trying to reach Adam Harder (he runs the parts scheme) to see if the club would work with my supplier and order to stock for club members. No word yet.
Thanks all for the interest and patience.

Thanks, Terry, for the confirmation. 18 elbows are to be shipped to me today. Additional parts to follow ASAP. As soon as I receive them, I'll advise as to how much and how to order. Thanks, all, for your patience.

Just to clarify...I personally don't have any knowledge of what heaters were used in the Darrin cars, so I can't claim that this elbow I'm having reproduced will fit that cars heater. The heater in my HJ is the 100171 model and uses the elbows of concern. Of course, the part number/s in the parts book (there are 2) is for an elbow with flex ducting attached, and I don't know if there is a p/n for the elbow by itself. I don't have a Darrin parts book, so I don't know what heater/s were used.
Please advise/confirm that the Darrin did/didn't use the 100171 heater so that I'm, at least, straight.
Thanks,
Shel

To all of those who responded to Big Dave's inquiry, and to those who might have an interest in replacement defrost elbows, the project is still active. Sorry I haven't been updating regularly, but the mold has been made and I am expecting parts in about 2 weeks. I did receive a 1st article and it did look nice. Price still not locked in until all of the costs are in, but shouldn't be more than $30 apiece.
Thanks for your patience.
Shel

ps: I want to mention that the mold is a temporary one (thus the reason I could afford to have the elbows made) and is only good for around 30 parts, so keep watching this tread for ordering info. I think they will go fast.

Henry J & Allstate Forum / Headliner bow spacing needed
« on: July 27, 2016, 06:20:37 PM »
Hi all...I know SMS can make a headliner for my 6 bow '52 HJ, but I've had problems with them in the past, so thought I'd try WLS Headliners on the east coast. Anybody had any experience with them? They have a pattern for a 5 bow HJ, but not for a 6 bow car. What they need are the dimensions from the front glass to the 1st bow and then bow to bow dims and from the 6th bow to the rear glass. These dims need to be at the center of the roof. I don't have a headliner at all, so can't provide them. Is there anyone with a 6 bow hj that would be willing to take some measurements and send them to me. I would be greatly appreciative.

Henry J & Allstate Forum / Re: My '52 Corsair: 6v to 12v conversion
« on: May 26, 2016, 10:24:23 PM »
Hi,
I recently removed a 12v alternator from my HJ. I wanted the engine compartment to look more stock than the alternator allowed. What also urged me along was the car had already been changed to 12v and neg grd, and a 12v electric fuel pump installed. And, of course, all of the lights changed. I purchased 12v field coils for my 6v gen (came with the car) and bought the brackets and now it looks stock. However, that is only half of the problem. Identifying a correct 12v regulator is becoming a challenge.  I would very much like to hear from anyone who has found a regulator for the 12v generator neg grd conversion. Back to your inquiry chrysleralmighty, Kaiser Willys Auto Supply, LLC sells a 6v to 12v alternator conversion that looks like what I removed from my car. I would gladly sell you what I removed from my car, but I don't have any instructions, just some pics of what it looked like before removal.
Good luck,
Shel

Hi all,
I'm in need of 3 horn wire clips that go along the top of the firewall at the cowl/firewall seam and also I need the 2 clips that go in the center of the firewall for the main harness. I'm not positive, but I believe the horn wire clip is p/n 212079 and the main harness clip is 212468. I got 1 horn clip from Rudy Phillips. That was all he could provide. I didn't have any at the beginning. I have attached a pic of each with hope that someone has some spares they could part with.
