Parts For Sale & Wanted / Wanted -Exhaust manifold 1951 Kaiser Deluxe

Hi, my `51 has a cracked exhaust manifold.
It`s difficult to find a repair shop in the Toronto ON area that is comfortable in welding cast iron therefore I`m looking into option #2 and that is to replace it.
Does anyone have one for sale or have any advise to solve my problem ?

 I have this one piece windshield that I`d like to find a home for.
It comes with old rubber molding and some of the metal trim.
I can`t ship it (too expensive) and it`s located north of Toronto, ON, Canada.

Kaiser Forum / Starting problem

1951 Kaiser Deluxe
Std. transmission
The car has always been good at starting even after sitting for a while but I spent 3 months down South but when I returned it wouldn`t start.
It turns over but just won`t kick in.
Battery is charged, it has an electric fuel pump and getting gas, checked the plugs for spark and are OK, cylinder compressions are all OK except for one which is around 60.
Poured fresh gas into carb. and a little into the cylinder head.
Plugs and points are clean. Reset the points.
Still won`t start.
Any suggestions?

I had starting problems as well and I ended up installing an electric fuel pump and now starting is a breeze !

Kaiser Forum / Rear Brakes

Well here I go again with the rear brake locking up (only in forward).
I got my `53 driving for a few miles and then the car just slammed to a stop.  I had the rear driver`s side looked at (it`s the only one that locks up). All the other wheels turn freely.
Putting in reverse is OK and then I can drive for a short distance until it slams to a halt agiain.
Does anyone have any advise?

Hi,
I have my `53 Dragon up for sale and I have the Laguna cloth that was never installed.
When the car sells if they do not want the cloth, I`ll let you know.

Hi,
What is the easiest way to remove the rear left brake drum on my `53 Kaiser?
(That brake seizes up when driving forward but not in reverse.)
Do I require a special tool to do so?

My `51 is still in my friend`s garage being repaired and as soon as that is done, I`ll (this should be fun) start my Dragon up and drive 'backwards' for a mile or so to his place !!

Well, so far this year hasn`t been a good year mechanically for my Kaisers.
I`m still working on the manifold and gas tank problem on my `51 and now the `53 Dragon decided it needed a holiday and shut down !!

OK, I had not started the Dragon for a month or so but it fired right up. So far so good.
Backed out of my parking space (after a 5 minute warm up) with no problems.
Put it in Drive and slowly pulled away.
Everything was good for about 20 ft. when it felt that it slammed into Park (Reverse) and would not go forward.
Put it in Reverse and backing up was fine.
Tried again to go forward and Bang the same problem.
Slips into Neutral just fine and same with all the other Forward gears but just won`t go more than 20 feet or so ?!
So I backed it into my Spot and now await your expert advise.
(maybe it`s been sitting too long, fluid level, ?)

Hi,
My mechanic doesn`t think that vapor lock is the problem as the motor never had a chance to really heat up.
Also when I drove it on the highway for 45 min. heading home last weekend (temp. outside was around 65), I didn`t experience that problem (although I have in the past on highway drives in hot weather).
I`ll pass along your comments and let you know.
