Parts For Sale & Wanted / Misc 48 Kaiser items
« on: June 19, 2017, 01:25:01 PM »
Have updated a 48 - rear end and the front of the frame with brakes are in the trailer that will go to the scrap yard sometime.   Have the plastic knobs that mounted under the dash, the tubes that controlled the air coming to the heater, the heater, steering column (will keep the horn button), radiator, etc.  Pick up in southeast Iowa.  E-mail ed@kropa.net with 'Kaiser stuff' in the subject line.  Engine and transmission are close by.

I need two of the door lock buttons - creamy light tan in color.  Thanks.

Took your info to locksmith - he was able to confirm that 743 was a good number but his key cuts showed as 24143 as he had no "zero cut" on his machine but 13032 and 24143 do match up.  Interesting.  Anyway he cut a key that works!  Thanks to all for directing me along.

Thanks for info - I have the ignition/door key which is good - the ignition switch has been replaced with the upgrades.  The car is a Special so no lock on glove box.

Good suggestion - may go that route - luckily the trunk was unlocked when I got the car.

Thanks to you both - have discovered the Kaiser instrument cluster has places for turn signal indicators.

General Discussion / Key question
« on: April 29, 2017, 03:28:45 PM »
On papers that came with the 48 Kaiser I recently acquired, there is a an Owners Service Policy that the dealer filled out and key numbers were written in as:  Ign 345 trunk 743.  I am interested in the 743 key - does anyone have a Kaiser key making machine or guide to which 743 would mean something?  Thanks.

No doubt this has been asked before, but what is the story on the two dot tail lights for 47/48?  Thanks.

Thank you for the reply - the adjustment info and picture were very helpful.  So the "clip" for the plate is indeed on the bottom!   Have yet to remove the tag and mount (still liquid wrenching one of the wing nuts) but did notice the clip under (but not on) the tag and then began to think the whole thing was upside down.  Cool in a way for the clip to be on the bottom.  Thanks again.

Is the rear plate on a 48 supposed to be centered up and down in the box outline on the trunk?   The plate on mine is mounted low in the box (to be near the light)?   It also had wing nuts on the plate mount bolts that go thru the trunk lid - are these correct or some adulteration over time?  Thanks.

Parts For Sale & Wanted / Updating a 48 and have some parts
« on: March 09, 2017, 10:25:58 PM »
Updating a 48 Kaiser and have the front suspension attached to the cut off frame and the rear axle for pick-up by anyone who can use them.  Would like a scrap amount for the radiator.  The engine and transmission (still together) and wheels are near by but in the possession of others who I can get you in contact with.  I am told the engine turns.  The car was a roller.

The car shows 67 K and has 56 plates which sort of confirm each other.  Looks like a stuck rear brake took the car off the road.  The drum was in the trunk and the wheel put back on.  That drum was bad and was scrapped but the rest of the rear end is complete.

I am in southeast Iowa.  Reply to ed@kropa.net with Kaiser Items in the subject line.

Thank you for the welcomes.  I could not find evidence of fender script - how was this attached?

Acquired a 48.  The plate says the Model # is 481, trim 122.  The car has a hood ornament and a hood center spear, cloth seats, day-night mirror and 4 bumper guards on the front.  I suspect I have the standard model with some add ons.  Any help would be appreciated.

Also what is the deal with the one and two dot taillights?  Mine has the one dots and one lens is in crumbles so was looking around on internet and found that there are two dot lenses.  If two dots are somehow related to a turn signal I would think they would be rare.  Again any help for a new-be is appreciated.
