Kaiser Forum / automatic transmission
« on: August 16, 2018, 08:01:18 AM »
I have a 1953 Manhattan with automatic transmission.  My question is should the transmission be painted green like the engine?  The transmission has been rebuilt and if it is supposed to be green, I guess all the paint came off in the rebuild.

Kaiser Forum / power steering

Has anyone installed a power steering box/head from another brand of car in a '53 Kaiser Manhattan?  If you have what was it from?  How does it work?  Any information would be appreciated.  I put an Isuzu Trooper box in my '48 Hudson and it worked out great.  Maybe that would work in the Kaiser or maybe a Chevy box.

I am going to either rebuild my '53 Manhattan engine or do an engine swap.  My question is how much can I mill the 226 head.  I would like to get 8 1/2 to 9 to 1 cr.  Would the power increase be noticeable?  I am not trying to make it a hot rod, I just want to be able to keep up with freeway traffic.  The original engine has about 80,000 miles on it and it uses oil.  It has an automatic transmission.  Another problem this car has is when the speedometer indicates 70 mph the GPS indicates 60 mph.  The speedometer was supposedly worked on at some time and the transmission rebuilt so I don't know if the speedometer was calibrated wrong or if they put the wrong driven gear in the transmission.  Any suggestions?

I was asking if there is a local club in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.  A group that has regular meetings and functions.  I am a member of AACA, HCCA, & the Hudson Es*** Terraplane clubs.  We have regular meetings each month.  I am asking if there is such a Kaiser club in this area.
