Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: 49 Kaiser
« on: December 13, 2019, 12:46:00 PM »
I bought the car from south-central california...have owned it over 20 years.  It had the original paint which was oxidized from the sun but the body was perfect.  A friend, who paints Corvettes and show cars, owed me and did a beautiful paint job for me and clear coated it...adjusted door gaps etc.  The jambs and under hood are original.  It has about 50,000 plus miles, clock worked, bought a radio and had it reconditioned but not installed. ...have pics with orig. paint, frame is perfect. Glass and chrome is original.

Available for purchase is one of the nicest and most original 49 Kaisers that exists.  Originally from a dry western climate, it has never had any rust! It is Executive Green and, being high metallic, lost it's ability to sustain a gloss so was repainted once seven or eight years with  show quality paint & clear coat. The interior is original except the carpets, seat back, bottom of door panels, and sun visors. Factory markings are still in the engine compartment & door jambs. Stainless has been polished, bumpers are original and exhibit period marks. A rebuilt engine was installed due to an issue with the original block. Pictures and further details are available to serious inquiries.  Thank you!    email address...<karl_k@usa.com
                   Pricing will start at $9, 995.00 non-negotiable.

General Discussion / Re: Vapor lock
« on: May 12, 2016, 10:17:38 AM »
Thanks. I've done the electric pump & switch. It's not routed through the mechanical pump, by necessity...still has intermittent dry spells. Did you install a fuel pressure gauge? Great feedback. Thanks

General Discussion / Vapor lock

The issue of vapor lock is well known for KF cars & I'm sure much has been considered on this topic. What  patterns of experience have you had with this and what corrective measures taken? I mean, obviously, the car stops...out of gas.   ...at what point of use & when it cools to restart etc. thanks    War stories? ::)

located in east/central Florida. I'd be glad to see someone benefit from these clean parts rather than scrap them...don't want to keep it sitting around though.  K.  8)

For all the effort,  seems as you'd go for a nice small block V8

Kaiser Forum / Re: Continental engine spark plugs
« on: April 11, 2016, 09:09:42 PM »
Actually, things have moved along pretty well...issues resolved along the way so far. The crank is different but a machine shop made a couple of pieces that solved the issue. The pan & oil pump differed so used the old ones. Fuel pump location an issue but had an electric pump anyway...vacume advance problem & timing worked out...seems to run ok.

That may be it. I've got plugs from the old engine...14mm as you say. The 'new' engine came without plugs but little caps to seal the openings (when rebuilt by continental) the the openings are the larger size & obviously won't accomodate. I've had the fellow at NAPA trying to help but nada so far...hate to put the old head back on as the new one's already on with a sealed new gasket etc.  Any help for the actual plug with larger threads would be greatly appreciated!   Karl

Any techno-wizzes out there re: Continental engines,  working with an engine from (obviously not an automotive application) and find the threaded openings for the plugs are larger. Does anyone know what plugs should be used?? ::)
