Hi take your springs or whats left of them to a brake shop that's been long in the business and have them to find a match for your springs, I did that and it worked.

Regarding Your problems with the  throttle linkage You should check the motor mounts and the transmission mount, on my Kaiser the engine reved up every time i braked it turned out being bad motor mounts letting the engine move forward when braking.

Hi several years ago I had a everyday car that you could unlock  with anything, when I went to visit Sweden I always popped the hood and removed the rotor from the distributor when I parked over night, always worked.

Hi on old cars when bleeding brakes you should always use a vacuum bleeder or you will ruin the master cylinder seals, you see with normal braking over the years there is a buildup with dirt behind the seals then when you start pumping the pedal when bleeding the seals will travel over the dirt and it will ruin them.

Hi good advice by Hollenway about welding .Engines tend to stop rotating on the same places when  you switch off so in the old days they used to take off the flywheel starter ring gear and rotate it 1/4 lap on the flywheel and put it back, this is not possible on the hydramatic, on my old tractor I bump the engine over 1/4 lap then it works fine with worn out gear.

Hi if the heater motor is burned it can`t be to hard to fix, go to the scrap yard and find a 12v motor and make it fit, the hardest part will be to get to the motor that is located in the right front fender.

Hi my 53 deluxe have some undercoating sprayed over with paint in different areas such as rear wheel wells inside the trunk and trunk floor and trunk lid underside, it is very hard to scrape it off, it will help using a hot airgun. The car have never been reppainted.

Hi have you loosened the handbrake adjuster all the way, if not it will prevent you to get the drums back on.

I can`t see why it shouldn't work, for starters you have the distributor in front so that is good, of course you will have to make new engine and trans mount and make the driveshaft fit the new trans but that want be too difficult, remember to post some pics here when your done.Good Luck.
