I would recommend contacting Larry Barker. His phone number is 602-373-1456. He is currently attending the KF Club National Convention in Gettysburg, Pa. The convention starts 7/26 and ends 7/31.

Contact Vern Ludwick in San Luis Obispo, Ca. His phone number is: 805-543-0754. He can give you detailed information on what to do to improve the performance of your car. He has a 54 Kaiser with the super charger. It is one of the few that runs like it should.

Tom Rankine saw what he thought could have been a FWD Kaiser in a Detroit wrecking yard back in the late 50's. He said the bumpers looked like Frazer but were different. He could not get too close to the car as the junkyard dog made that car his home. The yard disappeared in the mid 60's for an Expressway. Have heard many "stories" about a FWD Kaiser but none have been found. If found, it would easily be one of the rarest cars produced by KF.

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: 1953 "Manhattam" on ebay

It is my understanding that Bruce Barnett of Scottsdale, Az. bought this car. Larry Barker knows the car and says it is almost like new.

After soaking the grill bolts with penetrating oil you may want to try an impact on the bolts. You hit it with a hammer. I believe I got one years ago at Sears. We used it to get the doors off. I would save the rear glass as that is the only piece on the car that is curved. Another item to save is the gas tank. Rust free ones are getting scarce. How are the parking light housings? If they are not rusted they would be worth saving. If the pedal pads are any color other than black, they are a good item, too.

I would save the upper grille bar if it is not too bad. It is the one that has the letters, "K A I S E R" stamped on it. Nice upper grille bars are not too plentiful. The grille bar that bolts on the hood is another good item. The plastic shifter knob is worth saving, too. Another thing that I would save are the bolts that go through the bumper guards. These are unique unto Kaiser and are not easy to find.

Could also be the points inside the relay are dirty. Sandpaper will clean them nicely.

Kaiser Forum / 54 Kaisers for sale
« on: July 13, 2010, 06:51:56 PM »
My friend, Larry Barker has lost storage for many of his 54 Kaisers. Rather than find another building to store them, he has chosen to sell many of them. Conditions range from cars in need of complete restorations to a gold winner at the KFOCI National Convention. He has cars in many color and trim combinations. All cars are in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Please call (623) 486-1403 for more information. For anyone looking for a rust free 54 Kaiser, here is your chance.

General Discussion / Re: Cruising speed
« on: June 10, 2010, 09:43:48 PM »
On most 47-48 Kaisers 55 MPH is fine. At 60 you can start to hear it and by 65 they are screaming. I'm not saying they all that way but most of them are. I had a 51 Kaiser I drove daily for 20 years. I usually drove it at 55 MPH with overdrive. Was able to get 291,000 miles out of it with only two valve jobs after overhauling it at 62,000 miles. I have found if you want to get a lot of miles out of your engine try to run around 55 to 60 MPH.

Krylon Universal Gray is as close to the original color as you can find.

Gordie,
I am interested in sharing a room at the National. I have a room starting Sunday night with check out on Friday. Larry Barker was going to share with me but now his family has decided to go.
