The only thing I ever saw was a painted ash tray in a Carolina but it had a chrome knob like an cigarette lighter knob.

Thanks for the input,  ran the engine today noticed the reading stayed at 80 psi but the put put at the tail pipe has not remained constant, it is quiet at times so a stuck valve is suspect as you said.

Kaiser Forum / Re: Wheel covers walking
« on: July 25, 2019, 01:34:35 PM »
As stated some 53's and all 54's had the fix of putting a raised tab on the rim at the valve stem location also the later rims had a Chrysler style groove in the outer diameter of the rim to prevent the tire coming off the wheel in the event of a flat while driving. I have used my M.I.G welder to put a bead on the rim at the valve area to prevent walking. the best help is bending the cap teeth to have more grip on the wheel.  (2) in the years prior to RADIALS the wheels were  of a much softer material than the wheels since Radials. on 1878 Ford wheels the information about the harder material is stamped on the wheel at  the rim. right now i am running 87 6" Lincoln wheels and the fit fine in the wheel opening and Good Year white walls on my 53 A.V . Dragon

It is a new overhaul by Ed Ewing and has only 500 miles on the overhaul. How do i find if it is a broken ring, Sticking  valve or other  item, also there is a putt put at the exhaust pipe while checking and dark soot on white paper held by pipe.??

To all  members that have purchased  "The Catalog listing  Vendor availability and N.A.P.A for K.F.H. in the PARTS INTERCHANGE & SOURCES  CATALOG, THINGS CHANGED WITH THE LISTING. they are as follows   ( NAPA parts for the most party are in limited supply but can be located "IF the clerk has the want "         most are  not being that helpful  if  you have the NAPA part number they do have the information in that computer as to which store and distribution center   that part is available and how many also what it will cost to have it shipped to your store. the  CORNING CALIFORNIA store that used to help a caller  find and drop that shipment to  your home is under new management and the small group that did that service  has been eliminated. If there   were enough members interested I would update the catalog, but keep in mind publishing and printing used to cost $150.00 per year and i'm 89 years old.  Thanks Richard E# 3719

With all of the response i am reading, as i understand John Parkers information makes most sense to me as all the Bendix appear to be the same.

what is the difference between a standard and an automatic starter, I know they have separate part numbers for the starter  but they look the same. My starter will not back off from the std xmission flywheel .
