Cars For Sale & Wanted / 53 Dragon
« on: December 01, 2013, 09:08:49 AM »
I have decided to put my Dragon project up for sale. Its been in dry storage for a very long time and is extremely solid, interior is excellent with the exception of the drivers seat bottom. Vinyl top is coming apart at the seams. All mechanical systems need to be gone through. This is a very doable project, I just have too many projects ahead of it. Located near Winchester VA, Please call for details. Thanks Brett Weare 703-655-5384

Cars For Sale & Wanted / Re: 31 Henry J's at Auction

I've never had it happen to me but I've seen him verbally abuse customers. Throw in what I think are very high prices and  it explains why I've been shopping everywhere but Leon's for a long time. On the plus side he is relatively close and has lots of stuff. Try him out, your results may vary. The tour is worth the trip even if you don't end up buying anything.

Went to the sale, most went to junkyards, Leons got the most cars, so parts will be available for a while though at a serious markup, scrappers got another 10 or so but were encouraged to try and sell parts before crushing. My guess is about 10 were bought as projects. The best car brought $2000, an sbc powered rough project went for $5-600, everything else I think went for less than $500. I don't think he grossed $10000 for all 31 cars. The big surprises were the Jesus trailers went for $1800 each and a fibreglass horse went for $450. Interesting day, I had never seen that many J's in one place before.

I need to find out the length of the AMC 6, It might be too long since it has 7 main bearings- also dont know if it has rear sump.

I was thinking that an AMC 6 would make a nice swap, has anyone ever done or seen this conversion?

General Discussion / Re: early body mounts

If anyone is interested, Bob Drake sells mounts just like the 51-5s only in different thicknesses from 1/8 to 3/8ths for $25 for 25 pieces.

I've tried him. I know Fred Walker has passed, is the family still selling parts?

General Discussion / early body mounts

Does anyone know where to get early body mounts or some reasonable facsimile. I have a set that the club sells but they are for the 51-5s and make the body set too high and I can't get the front clip to line up. I looked at an original car and the mounts were about a quarter inch thick and rubber impregnated fabric and the ones I have look like hockey pucks with a hole in the middle. Thanks

General Discussion / 226 oil pan
« on: September 21, 2009, 07:21:33 PM »
I recently acquired a 54 with a pretty bad oil leak which appears to come from the rear of the pan and not the rear main as I originally thought. Questions are do I have to drop the steering, raise the engine, or both to remove the pan? A friend has a nos cork gasket inthe kf box, is it safe to use after all these years or should I spend $40 for a new one? Anything else I should do while I'm in there. Thanks
