We may be able to help.  We were going to restore two 1951 Kaisers but have sold one.  I believe I have two of each pieces that you are looking for but I must find them.  I have them on my parts list as NOS (new old stock) never been on a car.  They are very hard to find in any kind of good condition as they are made, as you know, of sheet steel and when rusty they will rust through.  If plated they usually show bad wavy signs because of the grinding to remove rust.  I paid a lot years ago to get the.  When I find them, next day or two, I will send pictures.  Our best email address to use is now rrdcorvair@yahoo.com.  To be up front about this I will be asking $550 for the upper grille and $200 for the lower.  It is a lot of money I know but the upper in particular is very hard to get real nice.  The hood directs rain water and salt/sand down and across that upper grille.  Contact us through email and be sure to supply us with yours for photos.  If someone else contacts you with one for less please feel free to buy it as we would not be offended .  The main thing is to save these beautiful cars.  Bob Dayton, Vermont.

Have you been successful in finding these grille parts yet?

Kaiser Forum / Re: Wheel covers walking

Late 53 through 1955 Kaiser rims have a raised tab at the valve stem hole and the later full wheel covers that have those extra tabs Jim Lape refers to line up on either side of the raised piece on the rim and finally ended the cover walking.  Bob

Very Well put.  I understand.  We have three sons (two active in the club) (one's into Packards - we've considered having him tested) and several grandkids presently active.  I think it is a nice thought that one of them would feel just a little bit closer to us after the inevitable to switch numbers.  The charter membership, back in the day guided the club and we had grown enough to need a bigger voice for all members and passing a number preceded by LM would just require two keystrokes and a yearly dues check.  Bob and Char Dayton.

You said you could move that 'arm' without the shaft it is on moving also.  I do not have experience with the 47-49 cars (we're51-54), but it would seem to me that there would either be a clamp like bolt set up to hold it in place (a round hole with a round shaft going through it would just spin) or, like a brake drum maybe a key and groove hold it in place.  With that being the low/reverse arm you may have enough play that when shifting into 1st gear (low) it's not fully engaging.  Check that SHop/or parts book found in circlekf where they show a blow-up drawing of all the parts.  It is free as  a guest and if that's the problem then you'll still have the adjustment step to do and then you'll know for sure if the trouble is inside.  And yes that can be a messy job.  Parts are available, a vender in California sells rebuilt trans for very reasonable prices.  Bob Dayton, Vermont

They are not dated for date of manufacture, but they are not in KF boxes.   We have used them in two successful rebuilds here, one is a model K53 and one is in model K54.  We also have some other parts for the 53/54 hydramatics.  Note - the rear band on our K54 was different from the 52/53 rear bands we have in stock.  It had to be sent out to be relined.  Chris Luecnt (moderator) might have some of the 54's in stock as Walkers KF parts had a lot of transmission parts. You'll probably do best to check out Circle KF for downloading the repair manuals and parts lists. Remember KF generally listed a 'master list and manual' (for this subject 1951 with reference drawings) and then changes were handled with supplements and/or service bulletins.  Your repair shop will really want the service manual.  My guy found some help via the internet but really was grateful for the printed info.

Hi, we have a few rebuilding kits available for the hydramatics ($300.00 plus shipping) and we have some other internal parts, including driven/driving torus (new).  The rebuild kit includes MOST seals, gaskets, and all the needed drive and driven clutch plates (these clutch plates are probably what the rebuilder was referring to as burned).  We have successfully had a K53 model transmission rebuilt and just this past year had a model K54 rebuilt.  That's why I said "MOST" in the previous sentence.  There was a seal that had changed from the 51-53 models that was different from the 54 model but we worked it out. My email address is ldladykf@yahoo.com for this conversation (I use another one for other KF stuff) or call 802-247-3337, Charlotte and Bob Dayton, Vermont.

Kaiser Forum / Re: wiper post disappears
« on: November 14, 2018, 01:28:08 AM »
There is a rod that comes through the chrome housing of the wiper, on top of that rod is a pot metal round knob and that is held onto the 'pivot rod' by a set screw,
and then the wiper arm slips over the round knob and a clip at the bottom of the wiper arm holds the piece in place.  Is the round pot metal piece inside the wiper arm?

Hi,  I have two of each and I see no difference in them....I was just asking in case I am 'missing' something,  I know the reason for different part numbers on the 52/53 and 54 wheel covers- the 54's have 'anti spin tabs' that match up to the wheel rims.  I just don't see a difference on the hub caps when laid side by side.

What is the difference between the 52/53 Kaiser Deluxe hub caps #213755 and the 1954 Kaiser Special hub cap #215045?
