Kaiser Forum / paint availability
« on: October 20, 2010, 04:28:15 AM »
My 53 is in the shop now ready for paint,  The code is listed as 443.  My problem is the shop, although they do good work, is not up on older cars.  Does anyone out there know where paint can be obtained to match the original colors.
Thanks!
Mike

Kaiser Forum / Distibutor base
« on: December 29, 2009, 10:33:14 PM »
Just looking for some insight.  I just had the motor rebuilt (mouse ate my motor posting) in my green 53 Manhattan.
The hole in the base of the distributor base was broke off on the tab.  I have located four other used distributors and what I found was that every one of them was broke in the same place.  I tried bolting it down with a washer, but the distributor still rocks back and forth slightly.
Has anyone encountered this problem and know of a fix or know if a replacement part is available?
Thanks!
Mike

Parts For Sale & Wanted / Re: 53 door hinge needed

Actually the car was bought in pieces in 1990 and sat in an enclosed trailer until three weeks ago when I sent it to the shop for a re-paint.  Somehow those hinges were bent, just the one door.  The post was fine as the car never had collision damage, just the hinge.  Just one of those things when you buy a basket case.  Up side is it is a VERY solid car.

This site has been an awesome help for much needed parts.  Well here I go again.  This time I need front right (passenger side) door hinges for my 53 Manhattan.  If anyone may have a set for sale or a lead I would appreciate it.  Thanks!  - Mike

Kaiser Forum / Transmission mount

I was wondering if anyone had information on where I might be able to locate a rear transmissin mount for my 53 Manhattan.  The transmission is a three speed/overdrive.
Thanks!

Parts For Sale & Wanted / Mouse ate my motor!

Help!  I just pulled my 53 out of 24 year storage.  Found that a mouse went up the tailpipe and found the #1 piston at the begining of it's exhaust stroke.  That left the piston towards the bottom of the cylinder and the exhaust valve open. Mickey made a nice home in the cylinder and did his duty within.  The urine ate a hole through the top of the piston and right through the side of the cylinder wall!  The motor is in the machine shop to be sleeved as it was a 50k motor.  My dilemma is I now need a standard bore piston.  Any one have a lead on a NOS or good used one?  Thanks. Mike #5142 (I think!)
