Cars For Sale & Wanted / 1948 KAISER FOR SALE
« on: November 24, 2011, 04:06:32 PM »
I am selling my beloved 1948 Kaiser.  After getting screwed on my rebuilt engine,   I have decided to sell my wonderful 1948 Kaiser Special.  Car has had significant work done on it.  Would take very little to make show car, in my opinion.  The following has been done:  Car has had new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, rebuilt universals, rebuilt transmission, new clutch, new throw out bearing, new breaks, drums have been turned, new distributor and carburetor out of box.  Included in sale : spare parts too numerous to mention.  Car body is in very good shape, wide, white wall tires are almost new with just 13K miles on them.  Interior is in very good condition with headliner that is to die for.  Chrome is fair to good.  Also included are the many trophies that I won in the last few years.  Also stop light and parking light housings (?) have been replaced with new.  Floor pans are excellent.    The car needs an engine.  Someone who has a car that needs a lot of work but has an engine can switch out and have a wonderful car, up and running in a short time.    Asking $2000.00 or best offer.  Call Harry  with questions or to discuss, 609 713 2562.

My car is a 1948 Kaiser Special I live in New Jersey, the engine was purchase as rebuilt but was not, just painted, cyl rusted and taper, crank out of round, valves lose in guides oil leaks, the first owner rebuilt the engine that came with car in 82 the block cracked after 13,000 miles, so went with the rebuilt, my dream was to take the car to the Hemmings cruise, in Vermont, was lucky in that I did get money back for engine, but lost out on labor to take old out, put new in and then out again, I do not have the health to do the work myself any longer so cost is high, Ihave to fix or sell as wife says if its not running she wants gargage back. Thanks for reply

I have a 48 Kaiser, the electric fule pump which the first owner installed is going bad, have bought a  Airetex E8011 asked the clerk if I should have a pressure regulator, well his eyes crossed and he looked like a UFO had  Landed, the other guy said you needed 12 volts, the pump has a min pressure of 5 lbs, max of 8 lbs. do I need the regulator if so does anyone have a part number or name, also is the E8011 the right pump?. Thanks, Harry

Well the old 48 has done it to me again, after spending a large part of the summer rebuilding universals all new gaskets and seals, new clutch, dist.carb, water pump, thermostat housing harmonic balancer, I thought I replace  the head gasket adj and grind the valves and be done at last, well after looking at the top of the block there is a crack running from the vavle seat to the cylinder and atiny bit down the wall, I just don't know, the joy of old car's, it never gave any sing of trouble.

From what I've found out as of January 1 gas will be going to 15 percent ethenol, whichas you know the 10 percentwe have now can do damage to seals and gaskets in older car's and the goverment thinks anything below 2000 is old, this stuff can also harm the inside of the engine, looks like  old cars may have to be trailered, if kept as they were made
