I belong to the club for the fun of going to shows and meeting othr members of KFOCI. Too bad some members feel "judging" is more important!

Of course "what it's worth" should only apply to a particular vehicle...and not any other car!  Hope owners are not naive enough to think that if someone's car appraises at a certain value, that their car is the same value!

4
i recently heard that if your car is insured with Haggerty (classic car insurance), every 2 yrs they "appraise" your vehicle to determine it's insurable value. Fellows I've talked to feel this is a pretty reliable determination of "what it's worth". :D

I was in Longmont, CO last month and talked to Steve Tebo 303 525 5303, who has 4 '52, '53 Willys Aeros, all stoed indoors, needing restoration, and lots of Aero parts, all in good shape. He might be willing to sell what you need. Good luck.

Pretty amazing what you're doing! Some of the photos actually look like photos of my Willys Aero while I was restoring it! Good luck in 2010!

I got the KFOC bug while in college. Needed cheap transportation and bought a '53 Willys Lark 4 door. Sold it 3 yrs later for $35! (Had been totaled but still drivable). 25 yrs later bought 3 project cars from an estate for $300...'51 Kaiser Deluxe, '52 Willys Aero Eagle, and '52 Willys Aero Wing. Sold the Kaiser and Aero Eagle, restored the Aero Wing..a nine year project which included adding a modern drive train and suspension. I'm always looking for orphan cars and shows and enjoy going to KF meets around the nation and meeting club members. Recently attended KF meet in Phoenix and saw Larry Barker's collection and freinds. Best car club I've ever been part of!!  Jim TeBockhorst, Davenport,IA

Does anyone know when the Willys Aero series switched from 2 pc windshield (as used on all '52 models) to a one pc windshied? Was 1 pc windshild used on all '53 models or just some of them? Thanks

Modified Kaiser-Frazer & Willys Cars / Re: Engine Conversions
« on: August 12, 2007, 06:33:15 PM »
Interesting topic considering all of the recent negative hype over judging of "modified's" at KF meets. I'm a proponent of "resto-rods" because of the advantages when traveling/driving our vehicles to meets or pleasure. A special class for modifieds seems more and more warranted and logical.  8)

We take our resto-rod for the fun of seeing other K-F members and their cars. We don't expect awards because we realize the interest and controversy over judging "originals", and would not be offended if our car was not judged like the rest of the vehicles. We love seeing a tastefully done resto and love to compare it with the stock vehicles of the era. We also recognize the uniqueness of the cars in the K-F organization and know that wherever our cars show up they get lots of attention. That attention says nothing about how a car was judged. The judging results are not important to the spectators. We're missing the boat of keeping the public aware of K-F if we won't take a car to a meet because we won't like the judging results. We'd favor a separate class for resto's if they are causing bad feelings.

Resto-rods allow more drivability to meets which are usually not in our immediate locale. I'd rather see someone drive to a meet with a resto-rod than have a "trailer queen" original show up and get high points. My definition of a resto-rod is that the car still has all the bea ;)uty and original appeal as originals. Meets and shows in the Midwest summers do not appeal to a lot of spouses unless the drive to and from is pleasant and reliable. Needless to say, I've been on both sides of the argument against resto-rods, but my marriage has fewer arguments when we travel with our resto.
